When we checked in the girl behind the desk was very nice! The hotel on the other hand was terrible. The hotel is very dated. The carpets were disgusting, our bed sheets were NOT clean., they had hair all over in them. We all slept in pants & long sleeve shirts (which I am contemplating burning) on top of the...

Love the location of this property as it is within walking distance of everything in Grand Marais. Also very suitable free continental breakfast. The carpets need replacing and it is the most over chlorinated pool we have experienced. Your swimwear reeks even after rinsing. We have stayed there three different times with hopes that the chlorine issue will improve, but...

Front desk workers were nice. However our room was right off the main lobby with stairs above the bedroom, so it was noisy! Carpets in our room were filthy. Kleenex stuffed in the screens. Had to hit the toilet to get it to fill. Pretty run down, yucky place to stay.

My daughter and I traveled to Grand Marais last Friday so that I could take her to the Superior Hiking Trail trails head the following morning. When we got to the Aspen Lodge at around 5:30PM we were told that our room wasn't ready. We were tired and hungry so went to grab a bite to eat (another story). We...

Don't stay here. When we arrived (check-in time, 3:00) we were told that our room was not cleaned yet. I asked if we could place our bags in the room and then head out to the beach. The woman at the desk said that we shouldn't put our bags in the room because she didn't trust the cleaners. She said,...

This hotel is poorly run and tremendously understaffed. I never saw a manager and the attitudes of the employees were really poor. We had a nice view from the third floor of the lake but it's a walk to get there. Room was dingy. Carpet needed cleaning in the room and hallways. Breakfast is free but pretty limited, continental with...

Always love visiting grand Marais and have stayed here before many years ago while snowmobiling. It has really gone downhill! First, they are so understaffed, can't get rooms turned around, we waited 1 hr past promised check-in @4, even given keys to our room and it was still dirty! Spacious rooms, nice linens but carpet filthy, tv from the 70's....

The location is great! Walking distance to downtown Grand Marais. The decor is dated and the pool area was okay. The staff at the check in were quite unprofessional and rude working with me and in dealing with others- I observed this a few times during our stay. Breakfast consisted of donuts from the World's Best Donut shop. I give...

Price quoted for active military was NOT honored. Too late to find another place. Rooms had stains all over the carpet and the mattresses had stains on the sides...cannot imagine what they looked like. Pool area was a mess. Continental breakfast was a joke. Way over priced...go elsewhere.

The room we got was about 50 feet from a major highway. No air conditioning, so windows had to be open. NOISY! We asked to switch rooms away from the road for the next night. They agreed, but when we came back, they had sold the room. Don't go here!
