The moment we walked into our room, we noticed that it reeked of smoke. Since the entire hotel advertises itself as 'non-smoking,' I was surprised and disappointed and I immediately went to the front desk and spoke with the clerk on duty. She apologized, but said that they were completely full and couldn't offer us another room. Her solution was... More

stayed in a room with two twin beds on a busy summer weekend. Room was clean but could definitely use some updating. The barking dogs next door were a bit much, but they quieted down around the time I hit the pillow. The continental breakfast was adequate. The pool area was nice, although could use new furniture. Overall, met my... More

We traveled with another couple, and each of us had a king bed room at the Spruceglen. The Aspen Inn operates this hotel, and check in is next door at the Aspen. A nice continental breakfast is included, and served at the Aspen Inn. Breakfast included cereal, fresh fruit, bagels, donuts, toaster french toast. The breakfast room was nice and... More

Find another place! I stayed at the Spruceglen Inn for three nights. Spruceglen registration takes place next door at the Aspen Lodge, both part of the same organization. During registration, the clerk told me to look at the room first, stating that it was old “50’s style, best for people coming back from the BWCA wanting a place to sleep... More

I had made an online reservation for the Spruceglen Inn. Upon arriving, I found a note that says check-in is at Aspen Lodge next door. When I got there, Joan could not find my reservation. She told me that I could book a room at Aspen Lodge for $149 plus tax. I told her and showed her my online reservation... More

I spent five nights here in September and found it perfectly fine. Yes, it's an old building and yes, the room is a bit dated. There was some chipping paint in the bathroom, but nothing that I would consider unsightly or unclean. I didn't even notice it until the second day. The room was small, but I wasn't looking for... My daughter and I stayed here instead of camping in the rain, we should have toughed it out and camped. We had room 409 and could barely open and close the door. The carpet was beyond stained, the beds appeared to have been laid on, paint was chipping off the window on to the floor, and the bathroom was dirty... More

The rooms are very small. The bathroom was so incredibly dirty, it looked like no one had cleaned the bathtub in a very long time. The ceiling in the bathroom was moldy and falling apart. No air conditioning. The staff were very unfriendly, with the one exception of the nice gentleman I spoke to on the phone when I made... More

This old motel should be demolished. It is in very bad condition. I had to shoulder my way in to get the door open. Paint is peeling and walls are marred. If the rate was $29 per night, it might be worth the price, but certainly not what I had to pay! The only saving grace was the use of... More

Our room was in an adjacent property (Spruce Glen) which is a converted motel. We were informed *at check-in* that there was no air conditioning. While the room itself was fine (albeit, stuffy and warm), we were placed in a room next to a series of three rooms that are apparently used to house employees and equipment (this despite the...
