Elkmont is a beautiful place. The campground was built on the site of a logging town. The facilities are limited but good. The campground accommodations are good for RV and tent camp. There are lots of easily accessible trails and places to swim and wade....More
I have been staying at Elkmont since I was about 5 years old. In my early childhood, my parents have been taking my sister and I every year camping and I have several childhood memories of this place which include all the people I've met,...More
One of my favorite places to camp. Nice creek flowing through which is great for tubing. Children and adults love it. Very nice hiking trails close by. Some historical cabins nearby. Clean and well kept.
Great camp sites surrounded by a beautiful river. Great location for those interested in being in easy driving distance to most of the park's attractions.
The camp store was reasonably priced with great service.
Located near Gatlinburg (20 mins away, a trolley goes from the campground to the town), lots of hiking close by. Toilets are older but functional. Sites having plenty of space between them. There is also a Concession shop with firewood, ice cream etc. For RVers...More

I've been staying in Elkmont several times a year since I was around 5 and I always see people in the summer tubing down the Little River. You're allowed to tube down the river, but the parking space is very limited in Elkmont. If you can find a place to park at the front of the campground near the camp store, then I'm sure that would be ok. What they don't want is people coming into the campground and parking on the sites. Each campsite is allowed 2 cars, but several people do occupy both spaces at their campsite. So, I'd say as long as you park in visitor parking you will be ok.
