A further visit and this place gets better. A major renovation with additional new rooms and the removal of some rooms has left capacity the same but the quality of the rooms has got even better. The food and staff are as always perfection, the historical trips are second to none. If you are in the area this is a...

Rorke's Drift & Usandlwana battlefields close to Fugitive's Drift Lodge. This property is 40km on a semi dirt road, which is easily drivable in any car. The Rattray family are welcoming with magnificent historic stories to tell. We were eager to get to the sites the following day and were not dismayed. Both Douglas and Andrew experts on the history...

You must put this lodge on your to visit list. From the moment you arrive till you leave , the service cannot be faulted. Nothing is too much trouble. We were upgraded from the Guest lodge to the main lodge and were handed the jets for number 10. Recently finished , the room was amazing and a balcony with a...

Wonderful stay, the rooms, service, food, wine and battlefield tours were all exceptional. The staff here really go the 'extra mile' to make sure your stay is memorable; special thanks to Grace who brought our early morning tea with a song and a smile; plus Doug and Andrew who gave us very memorable and emotional tours of the 2 battlefields....

The lodge is in a very beautiful setting, the rooms were comfortable with amazing views, the tours of the Zulu battlefields were conducted but the most knowledgable people, who bought the place to life, a very moving experience! The food and the company were all wonderful, a place to stay!

I was not really looking forward to spending three days learning about the Zulu wars (major understatement!) but this place is really special. Run by a dedicated family with enormous enthusiasm and commitment, it is imbued with its place in history and the lectures on the battlefields were spellbinding. So even if the Lodge itself was average, that would be...

Stayed here for 2 nights because my husband had always wanted to do Rorke,s Drift I didn't think I would enjoy it but I was wrong it was an amazing experience. The Rattray brothers are extremely knowledgeable about the subject they are talking about. Such a moving story. The room we stayed in was a new one away from the...

I felt like a member of the Raj staying at Fugitive's Drift Lodge - the guest rooms are beautiful and have an amazing outlook over the property. The place is chock full of fascinating memorabilia and at the time of the battle anniversaries (when we were there) the conversations flowed freely over the dining table. I usually avoid guided tours...
