Staff was wonderful. They let us know we had left something in the room and got the item to us in a timely manor. Rooms are beautiful and the old elevator is fun. Fun dining was near by to add to a relaxing stay.

My daughter & I stayed here prior to her registration day at UNCG. Perfectly located to downtown, we parked in the garage across the street, which they validate, so parking is free. Downtown is literally 1/2 a block away and there are tons of restaurants and cool boutiques to visit. Be sure to explore the hotel's quirky set up &... More

I loved this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in the heart of downtown Greensboro. Great staff and great accommodations. If you are looking for a Holiday Inn -- this is not for you. If you want a hotel with character, personality and individuality this is THE place!

This is a great place to stay in Greensboro. Near everything, nice staff and the place is Dog friendly! I have stayed here several times for fun and for business and it is always convenient. Easy parking just across the street.

Stayed here with my son while visiting Guilford College. The hotel has a lot of historic charm and our room was large with very high ceilings. It's in a great location just half a block away from all the coffee bars, book shops, restaurants, breweries and art galleries on Elm St.

Nice break from highway hotels. An old hotel with charm & comfort...high ceilings & large windows blend with comfortable bedding. Nice breakfast & walking distance to stores & restaurants. Friendly staff.

Stayed here in May with family for a college graduation weekend. It was a lovely change from the typical cold and corporate chain hotel. Small and homey, with a nicely decorated lobby and interesting original fixtures throughout (especially the vintage elevator!). The breakfast room was small but pleasant with an ample selection and fresh pastries. Parking convenient and downtown Greensboro... More

Enjoyed staying in comfortable high ceilinged room in this historic and well-maintained building. Brian and his staff went above and beyond to make our family and friends gathered for a wedding feel at home and to make sure all of our needs were met. Easy walking around downtown to restaurants, shops, parks and museum.

Surrounded by many big-name hotels, the Biltmore is a small gem in Greensboro, NC. I was happy to find it on the Internet for a one-night stay for my friend's wedding at the Kress Building. It was affordable, which was the main reason why I booked it! That, and I recognized the name Biltmore from NC history. Sure enough, the... More

Loved the early 1920's feel. Close to the breweries and numerous places to eat. Would definitely stay again. There is also a park very close to the hotel. It really is a nice city and great hotel for couples to visit.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our history begins in 1903, when the building was constructed to house the burgeoning corporate empire of Cone Export and Commission Company. At the time it was said to be “in every way up-to-date and well appointed.” This means completed wired for electricity and plumbing, and in 1920, they added one of Greensboro’s first unmanned elevators to the building; it is the one we still use today. They occupied the space until 1924 when they moved to larger building around the corner. At that time, the building housed local insurance companies. It was in 1929, that the building was converted to living quarters. Half of the building was used as an annex to the local post office, until 1932, and the other half was listed in the city directory as furnished rooms. The Greenwich, as it became known as the following year, was one of the first to offer private baths for around $2.00 a day. In the late ‘40s, early 50s, it became known as the Greenwich Apartments and stayed this way until the mid-1960s. In the late ‘60s, the building reopened as the Greenwich Inn, and a new face was brought to the building by renowned interior designer Otto Zenke. He modeled the hotel after an English hunting club and decorated the lobby as an old world drawing-room with walnut paneling and traditional hunting scenes. The hotel changed ownership once again 1992, and was renamed the Biltmore Greensboro Hotel. Today, we pride ourselves as a fine boutique establishment, offering old world charm accentuated by modern amenities you would find at any hotel of distinction. Under new ownership since 2007, we look forward to continuing to provide memorable experiences for all our guests. Stay once and not only will we remember your name but the little things like your favorite room or you need for a late checkout. It is always “no problem.” ... more   less
