If you are staying at the Jayakarta, then I would really recommend staying in the hotel as the apartments are a fair way from the pool, the beach and the restaurant. We had booked the apartment for our stay, and changed to the hotel after the first night. We switched to an interconnecting room by the pool and enjoyed that.

Be careful with money exchangers, they have quite a few tricks up their sleeve (literally!)
