Booked two rooms for a one night stay with my family (4 adults and 1 child) The staff was polite and helpful with pre-bookings (we were even given a 10% discount for both rooms) The hotel is not too big but it's quaint, warmly furnished and the gardens are wonderfully maintained. The atmosphere here is very comfortable. Service is good,... More

I know that Nuwara Eliya is a very touristic place but what I got for 70!! USD (for Sri Lankan circumstances half of a monthly salary) was horrible. Outside: The hotel looks nice at a first glance. Very European / British. Construction site is close by, start at 8am, stop at 8pm. Reception: People seems to be friendly but after... More

We visited for dinner as we wanted to try out a new option for a meal. The tables are in the natural shape of a tree trunk which is not symetrical and tad bit uncomfortable. The dining room is quite small. The price for each dish was not worth it. A portion of soup is Rs. 600! The chinese lunch... More

Did I expect too much? First room we were given had dirty stains on toilet seat. Moved to a room that was just a little grubby, but was cleaned next day. Linen and bed all clean though. Breakfast basic but ok. Staff helpful. Busy area, so expect noisy within and outside hotel.

We did not actually stay in this hotel as they messed up our booking and left us stranded at 10pm! The staffs are not helpful and very reluctant to contact hotels.com to resolve the issue on the spot. As they were fully booked (or double booked..) we were forced to look for another hotel on our own.

Classic Srilankan colonial experience With Beautiful colonial architecture, Hotel Glendower is situated at a very prominent location at NuwaraEliya as the property was probably bought by the current owner from a prominent British resident. Surprisingly this hotel is not as old as it looks... With its botanical gardens, its carefully architectural exteriors, colonial style interiors, English and Welsh artefacts, olden... More

Had lunch here. Chinese menu with some Thai. Service, staff and food very average. No prawns despite extensive prawn dishes. Pestered by flies around table. Price reasonable but food mediocre. Would not go again.

If you want to try a colonial hotel without overpaying for it, this is the place to go to. The rooms are big, and the staff is extremely friendly. We had take-away breakfast, so cannot comment on the restaurant.
