I fully enjoyed my stay at the Grand. I knew what to expect and I was fully pleased. The place cools you off and emerges you in the colonial times of Sri Lanka. The floor boards are creaking under your steps, the old windows let the cool night air in (don't worry, you get a radiator) and the room itself...

We had a one night stay here during a tour around Sri Lanka - and I wish it could have been longer... Having travelled up from Kandy by train, we were picked up by our driver and taken to The Grand. It looked impressive driving up and walking in it didn't disappoint. We were taken to a large lounge area...

The High Tea at this hotel consists of nice black tea, as many cops as you like, and a variety of small sandwiches and cakes, served on a 3-floor tray. For us this visit was special as my wife had been here in the 1970s as a child. She remembered everything quite well and the hotel, even if changes have...

We really enjoyed our stay here. It's a very nice hotel run by some very nice and friendly staff. The hotel and rooms are very clean and comfortable. The food at the buffet was amazing along with the wood fire pizza. The only negative would be that there is no wifi in the rooms and only in the lobby. Also...

We had 2 nights here in a deluxe room which was huge. We did need the heater on in the evenings. The food in the Magnolia restaurant was superb as was the afternoon tea. We did find the public rooms a bit cold as the front door was always open which created a terrible draught as it was windy.

Maybe grand from the outside but disappointing once inside. The room I was given had a smell of damp, room however was clean and tidy. No a/c but had a heater. Grounds were kept very nice and tidy. Meals were also very good with a large selection to suit every ones taste. Because of the type of building the rooms...

After arriving for High Tea (something we've done at many great hotels around the world) we were told to, "Sit over there", by an indifferent manager. After waiting fifteen minutes in vain for service we decided to walk into town, which proved far more successful when we found a local bakery and tea shop. We had planned to have breakfast...

Beautiful colonial hotel, only a short walk to town. Food is great and the high tea is good value. Good selection of food at breakfast. Public areas are lovely and the grounds are beautiful. Only complaint about the room was the lack of air conditioning. The bed and bathroom were good. Service in the restaurant a little patchy as we...
