I had not planned on staying with family, on a recent trip. The neighborhood is just to noisy! Last minute I booked at the Cornstalk. I mean literally last minute. It was 10:30 at night, pouring down rain. Shay came out to meet me, and carried my bag up the stairs. The Room was so beautiful. The next day, I decided...

If you're point of reference is Marriott Courtyard or Hilton Garden Inn this is not the hotel for you. I stay at those places 40 nights a year for business and they are fine for that. However if you're coming to NOLA for the experience you should open yourself up to something unique, which this hotel definitely is. The experience...

This is a beautiful, perfectly located hotel at the heart of the French Quarter. The interior is as impressive as the exterior, gorgeously decorated with paintings and ornaments. Our room was also lovingly decorated, with chandelier and four-post bed. The service in the hotel was very good, we asked for a couple of things and they were done quickly and...

My husband and I had such a wonderful stay at the Cornstalk! We were greeted by Sandy who checked us in with no fuss and gave us some great advice on walking routes to where we wanted to go. The building itself is so beautiful and because it is set back from the street, our room was surprisingly quiet, especially...

I have always wanted to stay at this little hotel! My room was on the first floor and I stayed for one night during jazz fest. The room was comfortable and clean and the decor was pretty; the chandelier in the room was beautiful! But the bed creaked and the carpet looked a little tired. It's an historic building, so...

My son and I were recent guests at The Cornstalk Horwl! We had a very wonderful stay and met some wonderful people during our visit including a lovely staff. Our room was small but comfortable. The staff including the very nice man who checked us on after a very late arrival to the housekeeping staff who provided us with a...

From our first step into the Cornstalk Hotel, we felt at home. The reception staff were so friendly and warm. Although the hotel has a cozy intimacy as a house converted to a hotel, we felt like we had plenty of space and easily forgot our fellow guests. The location is perfect for French Quarter exploration and you'll enjoy coming...

Overall, a very cute hotel that radiates New Orleans history and charm. I chose this hotel to be smack in the middle of the French Quarter, and the location does not disappoint. The hotel is very basic, mind you. No bar, restaurant, or anything beyond a room. I enjoyed 2 rooms in my 2 nights there. The 'upgraded' #5 was...

We had an amazing experience at the Cornstalk. Much of it had to do with the woman who worked there (and unfortunately I cannot recall her name, but she deserves so much credit). She really took care of us from check in on Saturday, April 1, 2017 and continually stopped to take the time to talk to us, make sure...

A fine old nineteenth century house, with some good rooms, some very small and in a great central location.Charming lady met us in the evening, very helpful. Four poster beds and decor like a bordello. In one room the basic shower burned and froze you without warning. No breakfast, so you have to search the streets for a decent breakfast....

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Cornstalk Hotel has been newly renovated and refurbished featuring fourteen exquisite guest rooms. Brilliant crystal chandeliers, antique mirrors and furnishings adorn the entrance hall, beautifully set off by high vaulted ceilings. The rosette scrolls, cherubs, medallions, stained-glass windows, fireplaces and canopy beds are all relics of a Louisiana plantation home. We are in the heart of the Vieux Carre' (French Quarter), with the sights, the sounds, the gourmet food and night life of old New Orleans. ... more   less
