This is a really nice New Orleans bar in a traditional French Quarter building. It is away from the “douche bags” on Bourbon Street and towards the nicer area around Frenchmen Street. A great jukebox, friendly bar staff and Abita beers, with plenty of interesting...More
My buddy and I have been staying in the Mississippi Suite for about 4 days now - the moment we arrived I knew this place was something special. Great rooms, cheap drinks and friendly locals. Treat them with respect and you'll make a new friend...More
We ate here (did not stay here tho) with 7 family members and they were very accomodating seating us all. The food was very good and the atmosphere was busy, but fun! The waiters were also very attentive and we had great service.
We stayed in the La Sirena suite in the loft space of the R Bar. It is open plan, a gorgeously furnished space with a super comfortable bed. You do have to climb the 3 sets of stairs but that is part of the adventure....More
This is by far my favorite place to stay when I visit New Orleans. I'm 38/female and this place is safe. I felt perfectly comfortable staying here by myself the first night. I stayed in the Storyville Suite upstairs. It's at the far end of...More

Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining
destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

Royal St. Inn is 2-4 blocks from the Quarter, in a neighborhood like Lakeview or Ravenswood, so you have nothing to fear. But to be honest, there's no reason to go there. It's all t-shirt shops, Wrigleyville-esque douche bars, and vommit on the sidewalks from the patrons thereof. Skip it. The hotel leaves a list of what's good in the area, go with that. Or ask the staff - they're awesome! I guarantee you'll have a better time in NOLA if you do that.
