We had a two-bedroom suite at the LaBelle Maison that we found to be very convenient. It is located two blocks from the edge of the French Quarters.
The rooms were spacious, comfortable and quiet. Noises from the street and adjacent rooms were minimal....More
Travel Dates 11/28 to 12/2/2016 (I stayed last year, long overdue review)
Property... this hotel is located near busy Canal Street. It’s located close enough to the French Quarter, but far enough away. It’s within 5 minutes walking distance to the FQ, bars, restaurants, shopping,...More
This was our 3rd time staying at La Belle Maison, and we were not disappointed. Previous stays were in a 1BR studio & a 2BR suite. This time we were in a beautifully appointed 1BR suite. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The...More

I guarantee you will have amazon time. Your trip would not be complete without visiting some of the restaurants and sampling their amazing food.
I had several opportunities over the course of four days to walk and explore this property and the following is what I discovered.

Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts
District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

I would try Fat Catz Music Bar and Famous Door. Fat Catz is kind of a hit and miss, depending on the evening and Famous Door has cover bands. Typically you can find out events and bands in these locations and plan an evening. Country is a little harder to come by in NO. Usually if they're going to not play rock, rap, R&B or top 40, then it's going to be New Orleans Jazz. I am not a jazz person, but being in NO it almost feels "right" to sit and listen. They are usually amazing musicians and a treat to watch no matter what they're playing!
