Nestled on the edge of the French Quarter, the Dauphine House is a perfect location to enjoy the sites and sounds of the Marigny and the Quarter but also to have some peace and quiet after the noise and commotion of Bourbon Street. The owner, Karen, is fantastic, very friendly and knowledgable about the area and has done a great... More

My mom and I visited New Orleans for the first time and stayed at the Dauphine House Bed and Breakfast. As those of you who have stayed there before know, Karen did everything she could to ensure that we had a wonderful time. The location was perfect for us (close but not in the French Quarter), the room was a... More

As all the reviews have mentioned this place is awesome. Karen is an accomodating, genuine and caring hostess. She was always quick to answer any questions we had and at the same time I was surprised at the amount of privacy I felt staying during our stay. She has thought of everything from umbrellas in the entryway (which came in... More

This beautiful little bed and breakfast is a wonderful gem. Only a block or so from Esplanade Avenue, maybe 5 mins walking from Frenchmen Street and about 15-20 from the heart of the French Quarter. Very quiet, lovely neighborhood. Karen was perfect and gave us great suggestions for dinner and places to go. As has been noted in other reviews,... More

Having never been to New Orleans I had no idea where to stay. I considered all the factors: Cost, location and safety. This place was PERFECT. The location is within walking distance to everything (Jackson Square, French Quarter, Bourbon Street, and my favorite Frenchman Street). It was far enough away from the craziness of Bourbon Street, but close enough to... More

I’ve spent more time down in New Orleans than my own city (at least it feels that way), so I have stayed in a lot of hotels and B&Bs. I can honestly say that this one is one of the best in the city! The Dauphine House, in the Marigny neighborhood, is a delightful B&B. Karen is one of the... More

Karen was a delight. The place is lovely and near enough the french quarter to enjoy it but far enough away so as to be able to breath. The room was lovely and quiet, the street was beautiful and the price was amazing! This is not a fancy hotel but if you want an intimate place that really gives a... More

Our stay at the Dauphine House was excellent from start to finish. Karen, the owner, took excellent care of us, welcoming us with maps of NOLA and suggestions of places to eat, hang out, etc. Every suggestion was spot on. Even though we have been to NOLA several times, we learned about some new fun hangouts. The room was dark... More

The ratings say it all. Karen our host was accommodating and helpful. Location is FANTASTIC - and I mean FANTASTIC. One thing - the peacock room is very small, so if you're travelling with a big someone or you're big yourself, it may pay to request the other room. Although given that its New Orleans, you won't be spending much... More

Stayed 4 nights in Oct 2010. Location is ideal for walking into French Quarter. Room had character as part of a quaint 1800's classic house. Well stocked breakfast basket in room and comfortable bed. Would recommend this place to stay in New Orleans and would not hesitate to return. Karen looked after us very well. Nick and Liz from UK

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
