What kind of b&b is this? We stayed in Josephine room and had to hear the next door neighbors dog bark for several hrs until I called police. My room service changed my bed sheets and my new sheets had a huge hole in them! The degas house is under renovation, which wasn't disclosed to us, and there is no...

Thank you for staying with us. An experienced traveler would always know to contact us when you are having any issues. You did not contact us about your issues even though you interacted with three of our employees. When the owner called this reviewer after her stay to see why she did not contact us about her issues during her...

This trip was part of a Living Social package we purchased. Our stay at the Degas House was everything we hoped for. We live within 90 minutes of New Orleans and make frequent trips there. This trip allowed us to explore an area of New Orleans that we do not often have the chance to; the Esplanade Ridge neighborhood. The...

My husband and I stayed at the Degas House as a late anniversary trip. The House is gorgeous and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Desiree room. The bed was very comfortable, and the room itself was lovely, but the tub was outstanding. It was great after long days walking the French Quarter and touring...

My boyfriend and I were driving across the country and New Orleans was a stop we had planned because we have some friends there. We were lucky to find a Living Social deal for the Degas House right before we left on our trip. We were planning to just stay with friends, but this deal was too great to pass...

I was lucky to book a last minute stay at Degas House, one of the most interesting historical places in New Orleans. The two houses, side by side, are lovingly restored, with an informative tour of Degas, the family and times on lovely Esplanade Avenue. My room was huge, a comfortable bed, nice updated bathroom and good music system. The...

The Degas House was an excellent change of pace for my wife and I this past weekend. We really enjoyed this surprisingly large historic home, and especially loved the warm breakfast that was cooked to order each morning. The staff was very friendly and ready to serve--we were offered a beer before we got past the front door. The rooms...

I had a great time hanging out at the Degas House. The courtyard is gorgeous and the staff could not have been more accommodating offering us complimentary beverages. The interior of the B&B is beautifully appointed and very clean. I did not have time to take a formal tour, but we will definitely do this next time we visit!

We had a fabulous time at Degas House. We were not sure what to expect, but we absolutely loved it. The staff and service were excellent. Sharon and Julia went out of their way to make sure our stay was everything we wanted. Do take the tour. We will be back. Great stay.

I stayed at the Degas House bed and breakfast over memorial day weekend while I was in New Orleans for a friend's wedding. Since I majored in Art History in college, the Degas House caught my eye immediately on the list of recommended accommodations from the bride, as it was a historic home where Edgar Degas lived and painted while...

I took my boyfriend to stay at the Degas House for his birthday. From the start Julia was incredibly helpful and accommodating. I had purchased a Living Social coupon to stay in a Garret room. The room was cozy and comfortable. There are no windows in the Garret rooms which ended up being a welcome perk as between no sunlight...

Staying in Treme

Neighbourhood Profile
Treme
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.

“We avoided the garret rooms because of warnings about the AC. Might have been OK at another time of the year, but not in June.”

“The rooms on the 3rd floor were in bad shape The beds are all old. Cock roaches every where even in the freezer & the fridge!!! This place needs just more renovations & for the price that we paid , it was way way too much ! I would not recommend it at all. Being old & historical is right but mean while can be clean & worthy of stay!!”

“Wish there was, but as far as I could tell, there were no "good" rooms. We booked a pricey suite but left before spending a single night!”
  • Main light switch as you enter the room, missing paint and paint cracked
  • More bad paint.
  • This is from inside the bathroom looking out to the second bedroom. The trim was disgusting!
  • Bathroom sink pulling off the wall, mold. Gross.
