My wife and I stayed here for two nights on our way to a cruise from New Orleans and WOW the building is a dump!!! I would've gave it a one star rating but the people working there were very friendly with us! The floor around the toilet felt like it was going to fall through and the tiles around...

If you're claustrophobic do not stay here. The rooms are small, with no view, but there is a great balcony that you can watch the goings-on below. Wonderful staff. Very helpful, free parking! It is kind of quirky, kind of a New Orleans kind of thing. When you leave your drop off your key, when you come back to pick...

How can this even be considered a hotel?! This is a hostil AT MOST.. and crappy hostil at that. There is plastic on the beds.. but even under the plastic the beds are stained? Makes you wonder if the plastic is for the hotels protection or ours?? The bathroom had holes big enough for rats.. i was HONESTLY expecting to...

Ok, this place is a great place to stay if you're wanting something cheap and within walking distance of the French quarter and the four cemeteries close by. The room's were clean and the staff is friendly. We sat on the balcony a couple nights and had fun with other couples. But it's not a place to stay if you're...

Where do I start? We were told to park on the grass. We were told we were not allowed to bring anyone to our room, all entertaining had to be done outside. We were told we had to turn in our room key each time we left the building, and ask for it again when we returned. There was a...

Don't stay in this hotel if you don't want your trip to be a disaster. BYW, not every room has wifi, guess you'll know if you're lucky or not. Travelling for sightseeing, but this hotel turned my dream into a nightmare

The very best things about the Empress: Location, staff, clean rooms and wifi, free parking. Location was close to everything and we never had to take our car. Its a lovely walk to the French Quarter and Frenchman Street. The balcony at the hotel is very nice to have a cup of coffee in the morning. I can recommend staying...

Staying in Treme

Neighbourhood Profile
Treme
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.

“Just never stay here; there ARE no good rooms.”
  • Where the bed bugs live. Horrible, horrible.
  • The TV was so tiny, you couldn't see it from the bed, which was the only place to be.
  • This speaks for itself. Disgusting.
  • No surfaces to put anything on except the chair.
  • Not one shelf to put anything on. No hooks to hang anything up.
