My husband and I just finished spending 4 nights at this bed and breakfast. We absolutely fell in LOVE!! The location is fabulous and Russell is the most wonderful host!! It is literally right across from the city park, the Museum of art, Sculpture garden, and Morning call Cafe. It's also a very short walk to the trolley station. Russell... More

My husband arranged a long weekend in celebration of earning our Associate's Degrees. I was slightly concerned with the location, as the vacation was a surprise without having the opportunity for my own input. The Oakview was PREFECT!! You can not ask for a better location, as it overlooks the live oaks in the City Park and one block away... More

I cannot even begin to explain how wonderful a time we are having here. My fiancé and I wanted to come to New Orleans and get married here. So we scanned the area looking for sites that would be perfect for us. We came across City Park, and immediately said that's the spot. Then came what we thought would be... More

We had a wonderful at Oakview! Loved the charm of the house & the jacuzzi tub! Our host, Russell, was very friendly & makes great breakfast! We'll definitely return. We loved that it was close to just about everything. There are several restaurants nearby. Parking was convenient, either on the street or in the driveway. There's a complimentary bar w/... More

Superb location at the edge of City Park, lovely old Victorian-style house with large, charming, very comfortable rooms, beautiful bathroom, generous 24/7 open bar and coffee, tea, etc. Owner Russell excellent host, very knowledgeable but not at all interfering. I left too early every day to have breakfast but it is apparently sumptuous. All this in an excellent neighborhood. I... More

Love, Love, Love this place! We felt so at home and comfortable here and loved those biscuits! Russell is wonderful and so helpful. There is a streetcar like a block from this place so it really makes getting around easy. No car needed :)

We decided to give Oakview a try because of it location across from City Park. It is a nice little B&B, with a charming feel. The room was comfortable and our host was very attentive, without being intrusive. He noticed that I had been going out to run, and he offered to make sure that I had extra towels for showering,... We came to NOLA to elope in city park. This house is absolutely beautiful! Stunning views of ancient oaks in city park right from the classic southern front porch rocker. Staying in Lakeview

Neighbourhood Profile
Lakeview
Lakeview extends inland from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain with much of the area reserved for family-friendly City Park. Home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, and the city’s own lush Botanical Gardens, City Park is a New Orleans gem and the perfect spot for outdoor fun with as much of a mix of culture and/or amusement as you would like. Beyond City Park more great excuses to stay outside beckon, whether on land or by boat. Developed a good deal later than most other New Orleans neighborhoods, Lakeview has a distinctively different look and feel compared to other parts of the city. Fans of mid century modern design and contemporary architecture particularly enjoy leisurely drives around the residential streets of Lake Vista, Park Island and along Lakeshore Drive.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Oak view is a lovely 100 year old historic Victorian. It is ideally located across the street from the famous City Park and the New Orleans Museum. That means we are walking distance to Jazz Fest, across the street from Voodoo Fest, two blocks from the start of the Endymion Parade, two blocks from the historic Cemetery, around the corner from Bayou Bogaloo festival, and a very short distance to the French Quarter, downtown and the convention center. The trolly stops in front of the door.Further the crescent city classic race and most other races and marathons ends here at the park across from the bed and breakfast. Unbelievable but true.We also feel that we are at least in the TOP 10 for the best Bed and Breakfast not number 25. WE are totally new, totally renovated and modernly upgraded with whirlpools in every room. ... more   less
