We were on a documentary shoot in southern LA and NOLA and the Whitney was extremely well located. We were right on the doorstep of the French Quarter but far enough away from the general craziness. The beds were comfortable and the service was very good. I think the food - at least one breakfast - had some issues. The...

We were looking for an affordable hotel not far from the heart of New Orleans and were pleasantly surprised to find exactly that at the Whitney Hotel. The hotel is loaded with charm. It was a bank in its previous life and still maintains some of the bank's character. The conference room off the lobby was the bank vault and...

Hotel stay was nice, room was fairly clean, from the picture it looked like the beds were queen size, I was wrong it was full size. Hotel was within walking distance of all the sites which was a plus. The Bayou Classic was the same weekend so the noise outside was extremely loud.

Thank you for staying at the Whitney Hotel in New Orleans. It sounds like you had a nice visit over Bayou Classic. I'm sorry to hear that it was a bit loud and hope it didn't interfere with your sleep. The front desk does offer free ear plugs for those who have trouble with the noise. Thank you again and...

Check-in was simple, the room was nice, and the bed was comfortable. Also, it is in a convenient location for the Garden District, the French Quarter, and the Marigny. I would definitely suggest this hotel to a friend.

We had no complaints about our room, except, there was no daylight, since the window was completely blocked off from the outside. Also, the gym room was quite disappointing. I did not expect anything huge, but the room was actually smaller than our room at the hotel. In addition, the equipment was so outdated and neither of the 3 machines...

A beautiful hotel with a touch of class. Once a bank I was surprised to discover a bank after which the hotel takes it's name still has a branch as a separate part of the same building. Unique and charming.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room, while on the smaller side when compared to newer hotels, was well appointed and clean. The location was good, easily accessible, and well-lit.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
