My husband and I stayed here for Mardi Gras. It was a short getaway to enjoy the carnival so all we wanted was a place to sleep. The Hotel Modern was certainly an excellent choice and we'd definitely stay here next time we're in NOLA. 1) The location was great. Right on the St. Charles street car line. Most of...

The location was great. Right on the St. Charles street car line. Rooms are small to US standards but huge for UK! The shower was great. My spouse and I disagreed on the comfort of the bed: one yeah, one nay. The room at plenty of outlets, a Keurig, refrigerator, flat screen TV, and a few purchase items available. I...

Good points - Great location, street car stop one minute walk, gas station across the street open very late, good to pick up basic items. Walking distance to French Quarter and other delicious restaurants and fun bars. Very central location. Affordable room price. Easy check in and out, room service (asked for an iron) pretty quick. Friendly staff, willing to...

Alright firstly I have to say the room was tiny and perfect for one person. Clean and everything worked and had everything I needed. My room was quiet and I slept well. Now for the things you need to be aware of - there is not much near the hotel such as shops or restaurants. There are a lot of...

If you visit the WWII National Museum it is a perfect location. It is on the trolley line too. Staff is friendly and helpful. Cheap eatery Soda Shop at museum, Warehouse Grill close too for good eats and drinks. Jackson statue looked in our window.

Excellent hotel - the amenities were endearing (thinking of the Keurig and books). It's an old building but it feels so historical that it adds to the charm. I loved how they punched up the room with small modern additions. Don't get me started on the staff! I've never met a nicer group more warm and well-mannered. My sister and...

Not in the French Quarter, but centrally located with trolley running in area makes this a great location. The staff is extremely helpful and prompt, especially Carl. Rooms are clean, although small. The restaurant is also great.

Although not in the Spanish, err, French Quarter, The hotel is still in a decent location a near a few good attractions. It is moderately priced and the staff are very friendly. There is a lil restaurant below that is decent, but way limited and overpriced. The rooms are very basic, which is fine if you don't plan to travel...

Staying in Arts District / Warehouse District

Neighbourhood Profile
Arts District / Warehouse District
Once a thriving industrial zone, today this district is home to a buzzing arts scene with an amazing assortment of galleries, boutiques, and studios having moved in and set up shop throughout the disused warehouses for which the area is so well known. Much of the art you'll come across here is local in scope, ownership and inspiration. However, among the many old brick warehouses are modern structures of steel and glass housing large-scale cultural institutions of national prominence such as the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Just as eye catching as what’s on view inside the galleries and museums is the chance to see your ship come in at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, which serves as a wistful reminder of the city’s historic maritime prominence.
