I stayed at the Lookout Inn with a few other couples. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The real charm of the Inn lies in the backyard where there is a nice pool, hot tub, covered alcove with sofas and chairs, and a bar area. It was the perfect place to relax after walking around all day through New...

From the minute I contacted Kelly, I knew I made the right choice in booking the Lookout! There were 9 of us traveling together and we rented all four suites and still had enough room for more people. The suites are EXTRMELY clean, theme decorated and quiet! The outdoor hot tub, pool and gathering space are perfect. We only rented...

On arrival, the Backwater neighborhood didn't look safe! Kelly reassured us and once we acclimated, had a fantastic 4 days. The Inn is warm in character, clean and charming. Fine dining in funky, but welcoming restaurants close by. Street parking was fine and driving around the community, renovations are occurring everywhere with lots of art studios, etc. Within 5 years...

Affordable, clean and soooo cute. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary but still lavish, stay here. Kelly the owner is so nice and helpful. She even held my bags for a bit so that I could go visit Villalobos Rescue down the road. (It's within walking distance by the way!) I'd definitely stay here again.

Pros: Gorgeous older home, The outdoor space is amazing- Small pool, hot tub, cabana complete with shower, sunscreen, etc, lush tropical surroundings. Kelly is extremely nice and helpful. The proprietors live on the property which made us feel safer (see cons) and this came in handy when the people across the hall were extremely loud in the middle of the...

Hey there! Thank you very much for your thorough review of our inn, the Bywater and New Orleans. I'm so glad you enjoyed our outdoor communal space. Please accept my apologies for the louder guests across the hall from you. It's very easy to get carried away in New Orleans and I'm sorry it caused a disturbance. Additionally, I'm very...

Beautiful space, wonderful hosts. Visited with co-workers for a conference at the convention center - our organization rented the entire inn. A great economical way to do a work trip with the bonus of getting to come "home" to a real community and not be stuck in tourist world. The rooms are great - very spacious and wonderfully decorated. Everything...

The Lookout is the perfect place to stay while visiting the Big Easy. It's a beautiful place with a covered area that hides a hot tub, a beautiful area to sit and enjoy the weather in the cabana. Lookout Inn is located in Bywater, off the beaten path in New Orleans. You get the feeling you are in the "real" New Orleans and feel as though you are staying at a friend's house. Kelly and Mark were so helpful and friendly with suggestions for restaurants, driving routes (including the best tattoo shop in town!) and things to see...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
