We loved staying here, the room was almost perfect (a refrigerator would have been nice). The location was amazing, in between the French Quarter and Frenchman St. We felt safe walking, and everything we needed was within walking distance.

The hotel is charming and authentic, the location really is perfect, the grounds are just lovely and the staff is very nice. The lush and peaceful courtyard is a wonderful setting to have a picnic lunch or dinner and take a little respite from the active street life in the French Quarter. Close proximity to all that needs to be...

I was so excited to go hear after looking on the reviews, but if you don't specifically get housed in the expensive rooms, you're across the street and seemed a little sketchy. The room was very nice though! I just wish it was in the actual house. It also was a great location though and had a Keurig and flatscreen...

My husband and I had only one night in NOLA. We were absolutely thrilled with our stay at Lamothe House. We wanted a nice place with safe parking, a comfy bed and within walking distance to the main sights and Lamothe delivered. The inn has great character and charm. We stayed in Rm 406 in the rear of the property...

My husband actually called me a genius for booking this hotel. Our room was 408 located behind the main house on a small side street. We had a porch with table and chairs perfect for relaxation. King suite with a couch and fridge. We loved the feel of this place and the proximity to all the fun music and resturants....

Had a very pleasant stay. Location is perfect not too close or to far from all the action.. on the edge of the French Quarter but quiet, private, and peaceful. The staff were polite and helpful, especially one of the evening concierge's named Clare. She was extremely helpful in making recommendations on local eateries and sightseeing. Will definitely stay there again.

Lamothe House is situated near Frenchman's St;reet, music and art center, and Bourbon Street, party central. It is on a quiet street, however, and does not capture any of the noise from either location. The suite we stayed in was charming and well furnished. The authentic wide beam floors were great, but they do transmit footsteps well from floor to...

We wanted a hotel that fit the whole New Orleans appeal and not a chain hotel. We also wanted a safe place, off the beaten path, away from the craziness yet a close walk to everything. This was an excellent choice with all the conveniences yet old world charm. Our room opened to the (secure) courtyard near a fountain and...

Very clean and well kept. Absolutely loved the architecture. Would definitely stay again. Did not see or hear any ghosts. Wish there was a microwave in the room since there was a fridge. The balcony was an added bonus for us.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

Furnished with antique furniture & artwork, the detail and charm that exemplifies old New Orleans is accessible to today’s traveler. Not to be overlooked is the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood the Lamothe House calls home. Here visitors will find Frenchmen Street, often referred to as “the local’s Bourbon Street”, which features some of the best local music and cuisine found in the French Quarter.Whether it’s your first or your next visit to the Big Easy, find the authentic New Orleans experience you are searching for at the Lamothe House. ... more   less
