One of the things I enjoy about traveling is finding a "go to" hotel/place for return trips. Having been to some other hotels in New Orleans, none of which I would return to, it was really satisfying finding this quiet gem one block off Bourbon St. It's not large, but is big on comfort, welcoming, friendliness, and a cozy feeling....

Great location, comfortable, and beautiful view off the balcony. But my favorite part was the efficient, kind, and colorful characters that worked the joint. They reminded me of my colorful Southern family (when they're doing everything for me). New Orleans is a great place to have a new adventure every day, and the Hotel St. Marie is a great place...

Our "vacation" started at the Hotel D'Armes located in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Hurricane Isaac changed our plans a bit. After not being able to find an early flight out we decided to weather the storm. The staff asked us to move to Hotel St. Marie as they owned that one as well. We found every employee of...

Rooms are clean, spacious and quaint - very French Quarter and staff are wonderful. Literally steps away from Bourbon Street, but far enough away to not hear it. Location is great and close to everything in the French Quarter. Have stayed in New Orleans several times but from now on this is where I will stay. Amazing quality for the...

Staff was very good. They were very eager to answer any questions we had. Excellent location off of Bourbon St. As many of the comments have said the rooms are extremely dated. With as much as this hotel charges during peak seasons some work should be done in updating the rooms with a newer French feel/look.

This hotel was a very good price for being just a half block from Bourbon Street. The location was still very quiet despite being just before Mardi Gras. We had a room on the street side and heard nothing all night long. The interior courtyard is beautiful! Great place to enjoy morning coffee or evening cocktail! The only down side...

We were transferred here from a sister property, due to the approaching Hurricane Isaac. Our king size room was on the top floor, it smelled damp and musty and the bathroom was very small. Also, our room was at the end a corridor next to the housekeeping supplies closet and the pipes in there creaked constantly, especially when it was...

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and always been happy with the service, but my recent visit was outstanding. Because of cancelled flights, I had to extend my stay two times for a total of three additional nights. I was given a great rate and the staff could not have been nicer, friendlier or more professional. The hotel...

Move to the St. Marie from the Prince Conti when the Valentino hotels decided to combine guests Monday 8/27 as Isaac was preparing to hit New Orleans. And while the re-check in was a little chaotic (no one -- guest or staff -- seemed to know exactly how it was going to work) everything was settled smoothly. I needed to...

The hotel is ideally placed with a 1 minute stroll to the action yet far enough away from the noise. Staff are helpful but you have to ask! Rooms looking tired (in particularly the carpets) - had to change room as the first had a strong musty smell. Hotel claims to have an outdoor pool - probably best described as...

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
