La Posada del Cerro was the greatest place we stayed at in Guatemala. We had the room with only 3 walls and it felt like sleeping in the jungle (Bust most rooms are regular rooms!). In the evenings we could hear the howler monkeys and the morning we got woken by the sounds of parrots. We were treated like the...

stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon backpacking through Guatemala & Belize. This was a really lovely place to stay. The village of El Remate is peaceful and more off the beaten track than Flores. The food here was really great, can't fault it. Needless to say we ran ourselves up a bit of a bill as we ate...

We spent a lovely two days and a night at the Posada del Cerro. Our family of four shared a two floor bungalow with thatched roof, hammocks and pleasant outdoor space. The owners were very helpful arranging kyaks for a tour of the lake and transportation to our next stop. they were also very easy about checkout time, but it...

This is a 2013 TripAdvisor winner and it should be. I have seen wild variations in what you get between 100-200Q in Guatemala, and this hotel is worth every Quetzal. Every detail is impeccable and the service at the hotel is classy and first rate. Even the guests were quiet, polite and low-key. There was a little family of howler...

This family-run hotel situated right on the lake has beautiful guest rooms, delicious local-fusion food (far better than anything nearby), and an incredible and friendly staff. We ate nearly all of our meals here due to the cozy atmosphere and delicious cooking. If you have the money, request the Aligator suite as it opens up right onto the lake for...

We stayed at the Posada del Cerro for 2 nights as our base for exploring the Peten region. The room is spacious and accommodating, though there were some bugs and lizards in the room. However, mosquito nets are provided, which protects you from bugs at night. The location in El Remate along the road to Tikal is great, and you...

This hotel was amazing, It is a little off the main road, but I found the walk up to catch a Taxi to Tikal very easy. It was also easy to arrange transportation to pic me up and take me to the Belize border the following morning. The hotel/Resort is perched up on a hill overlooking Lake Peten. There was...

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of a 3 week trip to Guatemala and Belize. Probably best to break this down into Pros and Cons: Pros - The family who ran the place were very friendly and helpful and by the end of the trip we felt like we had gotten to know them a little more. They...

Our family stayed at the Posada two nights in March. Lovely hotel! The room (Monkey House) was perfect for the six of us. Beautiful woodwork, great patio, lovely grounds! The restaurant had delicious, freshly prepared food and they made meals for us whenever we were in need. Very friendly hosts/owners and employees. There is a little bit of a hike...

I really enjoyed staying at this place and found that although the food was expensive by Guatemalan standards, it was tasty. Willy was very helpful in giving us advice and arranging an early microbus for us to visit Tikal. Just over the road from the lake and with lovely lake views, this is somewhere special to stay in El Remate....
