A few times over the years I've stayed a night coming or going in Flores and once before in El Remate, but generally recommended that folks stay in the park at Tikal to make the most of their visit. I realize that some folks have more than 1 night in the area and want to stay in more than one... More

We stayed here 1 night before visiting Tikal. Small Town Charm. We took a horseback tour arranged by hotel the evening we arrived, which was wonderful and cheap. This place is just by the lake, we even met the owner which turned out to be a wonderful older gentleman. Room was simple, but we really didnt visit El Remate/Tikal to... More

We stayed several nights with our 6 & 8 year old kids on the road to and from Tikal. This was the best hotel we stayed in on our 3 week trip through Guatemala. The rooms are clean, spacious and have AC. My kids loved the huge garden were they could run around and disturb anyone. The owner Don David... More

We aré happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. You were here for the beginning of our slow season so I had some time to show The kids a few things. The season is slower than ever these days so please tell others there's a 95% chance of getting a room by just walking in. This gives a bigger Thanks... More

This hotel is just wonderful, and I'd highly recommend it as a place to stay in El Remate, and as a base for visiting nearby Tikal. It is splendidly situated on the eastern shore of Lake Peten Itza, and whilst its accommodations and restaurant are just brilliant, what really stood out for me were the large and tranquil gardens full... We stayed here for two nights as a family of four with our teenaged children and the only thing we regret, is that we didn´t have enough time to stay longer. Perfectly located to visit Tikal and Yaxha (we did both), beautiful property and view of the lake, clean rooms and bathrooms, very friendly and helpful staff, breakfast and dinner... More

La casa de don David has the perfect balance between comfort and nature. The place is built respecting the surroundings, the nature...you can enjoy the lake view during the day and enjoy a drink in the terrace during the sunset. Don't miss" La ceremonia del fuego", a beautiful way they honor their Maya traditions.

After a two-night stay, I phoned my wife to say we have to return together. It's the best value for money i've encountered in seven trips throughout Guatemala. Beautiful grounds, clean comfortable room, and good food at fair prices. Frequented by Guatemalans, which I take as good sign.

Excellent location, pleasant staff, great views, comfortable rooms, great value for money when compared to Flores. Make sure to ask for rooms that are not under the restaurant. Also ask the restaurant to go light on salt. Free water, hammocks, awesome place.
