We loved our stay here, in this delightful valley tucked away but so close to the great little town of Custer. It is a great location for some of the best attractions of the black hills. We climbed the ridge behind the cabin and were rewarded with views to Crazy Horse! All the while chittering squirrels and chipmunks telling us... More

We were in town for only a two-nights on our annual MANcation reunion with old friends. These cabins are perfect for us. We stayed in Cabin #4, all of the cabins are fairly close together, but each have their own fire pit and picnic table. We were able to see Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument in the same day, and... I stayed in Cabin #3 with two friends, and we each had our own bed/room. You have to be able to climb stairs--there's a flight outside up to the deck, and it's two stories inside. Main floor has a somewhat tight but nice table/chairs and couch/chair seating area; small kitchen; bathroom; private bedroom. Upstairs there's a loft divided by a... More

We chose to stay here for a quick 2 night stay on our way through the Black Hills on our way out west to Cody, WY and Yellowstone. I would highly recommend staying at a cabin such as this over a hotel. It is a much more peaceful experience and more spacious. We didn't cook any meals other than breakfast... More

Stayed for 7 nights in early April, 2016 as a family of 3, each had our own room. These cabins were sweet, inside and out. Everything you could need or want is included. Full kitchen and cookware, huge bathroom, comfortable living room, very comfortable beds, very clean and organized. Several times I bought steak at the local grocery store and... More

My wife and I stayed at Elk Haven a few years ago for our first vacation with our two children. It was our first time to the Black Hills, and our stay at Elk Haven was one of the highlights of our trip. Our cabin was cozy and very well laid out for our needs, the full kitchen , complete... More

Love the location - on edge of custer, so close to black hills attractions, yet hidden away in quiet acreage neighborhood. Beautiful cabins and extremely clean. Had all cookware needed if you didn't want to eat out. Awesome campfire pits. No airconditioning, but didn't need it, even when daytime temps were 90, cooled off by 7 pm to where I... More

This was our second stay at Elk Haven in over a year, and it was just as great as the first time. The cabins are clean, quaint, and cozy. It was perfect for our family of 4. We like the idea that it's on a quiet gravel road and yet only minutes from Custer. The kitchen isn't very big if... More

We loved our stay here. It was great to get away from the tourist scene and have some peaceful scenery. Cabins were clean and cozy and had everything we needed. Kids loved having space around the house to roam and build their own fire. Kitchen doesn't have much cupboard space but was functional for simple meals and snacks. Diana was... More
