In our opinion this hotel is a somewhat older 4 star hotel and has a good price-performance ratio. So we would award 4 points. But since it is cheaper than comparable hotels in the area and we do not have the specific must have request for ultramodern facilities and equipment, we award 5 points. Our evaluation concerns the very good and extensive breakfast, our 3 bed room, the friendliness of the service, the swimming pool and sauna. Other things we could not evaluate because we did not try them. Yes, and it is not self-evident in Central Europe that you can get tap water for free. Small tip: in front of the hotel is a well, there you can always fill up your bottles for e.g. the day trips or for other things. 🙂

My family and I stayed for two days, lured by a deal from Limango. Apologies of I sound like a brat but I am comparing this to other 4-star hotels elsewhere in the world. In general, I was disappointed. The hotel claims to be from 1510, but the decor screams 70s. The swimming pool and dressings rooms, while nice, needs some modernization. The bathroom in our room needs to be upgraded. The laminate flooring in our room was loose. Small touches which one normally receives from a 4-star hotel were missing in my opinion, e.g. I was told to carry my bags by myself to/from the car to the 3rd floor, salad at dinner looks like a 2-star effort, and you’re expected to pay €1.90/l for the “effort” of being served mountain water at dinner, afternoon snacks were a piece of bread with tomatoes ab mozzarella - hardly something to look forward to. And not to mention the tourist tax (like why just not increase the price of the room by €5 per night and include the water and tourist tax!?). Breakfast was your normal bacon, egg, and cereal spread but nothing really special. Main course dinner was very good on both nights but it seemed like dessert was an afterthought (apple puree with whipped cream). Also the Salzburg Sportwelt card was a total letdown with ~10% discounts on some overpriced touristy attractions. We did not use it at all. On the positive side: for biking, hiking and skiing the location is superb with pretty views of the mountains. In my opinion this hotel should not be more than a 3-star establishment.

Just spent a week in early September at this delightful hotel in Filzmoos (booked through Inghams). A lovely entrance with gorgeous, colourful flowers gave a great first impression. We had booked a Landgenuss room in the newer block and were very pleased with it – stylish, spacious and well designed, with lots of storage. A lovely view as well. The wardrobe doubled up as a spacious dressing area which was extremely useful. Definitely worth the upgrade. Rooms were kept extremely clean. Good location, about 10 minutes easy walk into the centre of the village. Both the Papageno cable car and the bus stop for the Wanderbus are only a few minutes away. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly, efficient and courteous, we felt very welcome indeed. Breakfast was buffet style, with plenty of choice. Dinner was excellent – you choose your main course (there is always a vegetarian option) at breakfast. Food was always delicious and well presented. We enjoyed all our meals. Portions were just right – especially as there were five courses! An extensive wine list, with a range of mainly Austrian wines which we enjoyed. There is a cosy bar area, which was nice to relax in after dinner. The hotel also provided an afternoon snack; although we did not indulge in this, many other guests did. We very much enjoyed our stay in Filzmoos, despite some rainy and cloudy weather. When the sun came out, you could see the true beauty of the village and the surrounding mountains. Stunning views! We are extremely glad we chose Hotel Unterhof – location, style, comfort, food and staff were all great. We definitely hope to return one day.

We spent a couple of nights here hoping to use it as a base to visit Hallstatt. Turns out Hallstatt wasn’t as close as what we thought (Booking.com stated 17 minutes, turned out to be 60-90 minutes) but it was a beautiful destination. Apparently it’s a popular ski spot in winter but it is beautiful as a summer destination as well. The staff were so welcoming. We were helped by a new member of staff, a gorgeous mum of 2 who even helped wheel our bags to our room. I wish I could remember her name. She’s a real credit to your hotel. The pool was great, we could walk anywhere in town and the room was large and immaculate. There are several restaurants nearby and you can return to them after exploring other parts of the area during the day. We will return to Filzmoos. We love your beautiful village and your home away from home hotel.

We stayed here for a week arriving 10/08/19 for our sons wedding . From the moment we arrived the staff were all great and looked after our large group of family and friends so well . No complaints from anyone about the rooms and great food served in the restaurant. Great selection available for breakfast something for everyone . Bar area is very welcoming . A very big thank you to all the team for making our stay so special. The only fault we could find was not all the rooms have full length mirrors and for some of the guests an iron in the room would have been useful . We would def like to return again the future ,Hope to see you all again .
