Probably the most generaous accommodation we have ever had on a ski holiday! Compared to our previous ski holidays in France over the last 30 odd years this is palatial - a comparatively huge room - probably twice the area of equivalently priced French chalet rooms. This holiday was set up by Skiworld, who had good friendly staff, and the hotel is well placed at the foot of the Ahorn lift which gives bus access to all the Zillertal area. Generally this was a treat - marred only by the low elevation which meant that skiing in was through slushy snow in the afternoons - but at least there was a route. Huge effort has gone in to extend the slope down as far as Ahorn lift and the hotel benefits. Bathroom and TV are good - hot water and mul;tiple stations - and there is a proper double bed though duvets are singles. There is a safe - but don't use it! We had to have the specialist send special codes to release our goodies.…
We visited as a group for a special birthday . The staff we excellent and very helpfully . The rooms were basic breakfast was very good . No problem with the evening meal the staff were helpful to all the groups needs . A very enjoyable week.
All guests arrived on the same Gatwick to Munich flight and were met and efficiently shepherded onto the Skiworld coach booked exclusively for Chalet Stoanerhof. Chalet very comfortable with plentiful and excellent food. All staff were helpful and friendly. Our room on the top floor was spacious and had access to a shared balcony running around two sides of the building. Only a five minute walk to the Ahorn Lift but skiing in this area is limited. From the lift a bus meanders to the main Penken Lift but it is probably better to walk the additional five minutes. It is worth exploring other areas catching the bus to the glacier, the train to Zell am Ziller, or the train to Kaltenbach. Definitely worth the additional travel time. Very good chalet and an excellent week of skiing.…
First visit to Mayrhofen & will probably be our last.Very busy pistes & very long lift queues at times especially at the Penkenbahn gondola. In all a reasonably large ski area but a little disjointed. However lets review Chalet Stoanerhof which was pretty dreadful. Ben the manager is nice enough but let down by his staff one in particular whom was rude & ignorant & needs to go to customer relations school! The other staff were ok but treated guests as an inconvenience & you felt they ran the Chalet for their own benefit. The 1st night they ran out of beer, 30 euro deposit for your room key, room safe didn't work, towels not changed all week, boot room left open for anybody to enter, bed sheets not changed all week either, room not cleaned, rest of Chalet hoovered twice all week. Bar closed & staff left even when there were still guests wanting serving, no honesty box & i'm talking about 10pm! Food was very basic, average quality & quite small portions. The location is ok, 5 minutes walk to the Ahorn gondola & 10 minutes+ to the Penkenbahn gondola.…
We travelled with Skiworld via Salzburg. Very comfortable coach transfer with chalet rep. Chalet is great, large rooms, comfy beds, great showers, well soundoroofed away from main street and loud apres in a really pretty location. Friends enjoyed the sauna. Great boot room which actually warmed boots properly. Very close to ski hire and Ahorn lift where you can catch a bus to Penken and train station. Only a 10min walk in ski boots to Penken lift. Bar at bottom of Ahorn very nice, fondue meal at Mount Everest restsurant amazing, toboganning night great fun. Chalet staff are friendly and helpful with a couple of lovely touches during our week but they lack a bit of management and guidance. With a few easy tweaks the set up could be amazing. Food plentiful, hot and filled us up. Many meals outstanding, some average, you won't go hungry. Wine very drinkable and free flowing. We had perfect conditions and skiing up and down valley was very good, varied but not great for beginners. We had a lovely week. Our pic shows chalet in background.…
The bar at the bottom of the Ahorn lift is so nice, always so friendly, table service, in the sun all day and the ice cream is fantastic. The owners always greet everyone there and it's a really nice touch. Great selection of drinks too.
Stayed in the place for a week of great skiing.. close to the ahorn lift and only 6 mins from the main lift.. Recommend you use the lockers to save carrying the things up the main lift. Only 10 euros a day for 2.. Food was fantastic.. although the portions for evening meal were a little small for a grown man.. Rooms were great.. sauna was great.. Location is perfect.. Visit mo's bar at the far end of how. Live music.. All in all a great week.. staff get 10/10.. Will be going again. For sure..
We booked this holiday at the very last minute and got a great deal as a result. We had 108 which is on the top floor and has its own balcony and dual aspect. The food was tasty, the rooms clean and comfy and the chalet hosts very friendly. An enjoyable holiday though I'm not sure it would have been good value had we paid full price.
Stoanerhof is a SKIWORLD chalet . We have been on SkiTotal & Inghams chalets previously but not with this operator. The Chalet compares extremely favourably with the above and I will definately consider booking with them in the future on other destinations . The staff were extremely helpful & great fun , interestingly there were a great many active oldies , most who had not been to Mayrhofen previously. It is about a ten minute walk ( downhill) to the main Gondolas & five minutes walk (or ski , snow permitting) to the Cable car. There was unlimited, fairly drinkable wine , with evening meals . Unfortunately this was the let down . Twice we had roast/fried chicken which had the moisture content of the Kalahari desert , overcooked lamb & burnt Goulash . Breakfasts were fine & the eggs were cooked to perfection. Flights were on British Airways to Innsbruck & therefore A ski/board bag up to 20 kgs & a main bag were available per couple with a hand baggage (up to 23 kgs) each Room 101 & 109 are to be avoided as they are by the front door & next to the Lounge dining room and the late night/early morning revellers tend not to be quiet. All in all a good choice…
Location, Location Location !!! Mayrhofen is a great town - with two fantastic ski lifts Ahorn and Penken . This Chalet is right next to Ahorn- 3 min walk - Penken lift is less than 10 mins . Staff here are excellent - the dining room is well set and also has a bar . Highly recommend for families and couples alike . The views are stunning!!!
