Lovely small hotel in a great location in Mayrhofen. The owners (Christine & Marcus) were consistently fantastic, always very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Located only a few minutes walk from the main ski lift and the town centre makes it perfect for all occasions. The rooms were in good condition and had modern clean fittings throughout. The only minor downside we found was that our room did not have a door separating the bedroom and the bathroom - only a curtain. This wasn't a problem at all for us, but something to keep in mind depending on who you're travelling with (though we understand that other rooms in the hotel did have a more traditional door). Overall, highly recommend this as a place to stay in Mayrhofen and would definitely come back.
What a gorgeous find. Warm and spotless hotel just several minutes walk from the main gondola lift. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and we were made to feel very welcome. Marcus provided us with excellent ski advice on which slopes to use and when and Christine attended to our every need and ensured that our stay was effortless. Breakfast was a special treat every morning.
Travelled as a family of 3 on New Year’s Eve, had found this Hotel as it’s ranked number 1 on Trip Advisor, can only book for skiing via Crystal due to a block booking contract they have Can’t say enough about Marcus and Christine, the quality of their hotel, it’s situation close to the Penkenbahn, yet outside of the town so lovely and quiet Marcus is super knowledgeable about where to ski depending on the weather, and we followed what he said as he was spot on every day Christine is a natural host, lovely breakfast served with a smile There is a lack of snow, but Mayrhofen has the Hintertux glacier so there are always options As an aside, I managed to break my arm on day 2, badly enough to require surgery, our expensive travel insurance didn’t cover surgery in resort, spent €1,500 on X-rays, and some repositioning, but insurance refused the €12,000 bill for plates and screws, sent me to a public hospital, who also refused me as too busy, ended up having surgery back home 10 days after the accident, check your cover before you go, and apply for a GHIC card before leaving the U.K.…
We stayed with Christine and Marcus for 1 week they were so helpful and lovely hosts! They are both a credit to the hotel very welcoming and anything you need they will assist you with. The hotel is situated at the top of the village which is nice and quiet but only 500m away from the hustle and bustle. The rooms are immaculate and the breakfast was amazing. We will definitely be returning! Thank you Xanti & George
I really can't think of anywhere at any time I have stayed that is nicer than here. Christine and Markus are amazing hosts, and gave me lots of good advice for my time both here in Mayrhofen and for the extended walk I am doing. Their guesthouse is stylish, comfortable and absolutely immaculate. It is also in a fantastic location being on the edge of town next to a forest, and yet only 500m walk into the town centre. Breakfast was wonderful too. I will come back.
This was the 5th time me and my wife have stopped at the Alpin Hotel Garni Eder, we have been in the winter, Christmas,New year & several times in the summer. Mayrhofen & the Zillertal region is an excellent place to visit throughout the year & always activities to do or places to visit. The Garni Eder has excellent accommodation with all of the rooms refurbished to a very high standard. Christine & Markus are fluent in English and are the perfect hosts, always available to help, & give advice on things to do in the area. Maria is the 3rd member of the team and responsible for the housekeeping, she keeps everything perfect & leaves treats in the room on special occasions. Breakfast is always well presented with great tasting local products, perfect start to the day ahead. Mayrhofen is excellent for food & drink with plenty of places to visit. If you appreciate quality & made to feel welcome, give it a try as you will not be disappointed. As a famous Austrian once said “I’ll be back” 😊…
I have just come back from a week in Mayrhofen with friends and we stayed at the Garni Eder. What a week! Christine and Markus could not do enough for us. Fantastic hosts with a beautiful guest house. My friends are returning guests and I’ll certainly be returning after the stay I’ve had Thank you so much for making our week amazing!!!
Walking back home from skiing one day, my son said “People in Mayrhofen are really nice, especially the owners of our hotel.” This hotel is faultless and I agree with the other reviewer who remarked that Christine and Marcus brought it up to an 11/10. Their families have lived in Mayrhofen for generations and they seem to know everybody. With their help we visited some great restaurants and found a place in very busy half-term ski school. We also got entertained by videos of their ‘crazy’ son snowboarding down gullies that most people would not climb. They really went out of their way to be helpful, including when our friends had an emergency mid week. The hotel is located an ok 5 minute walk from the Penkenbahn, away from the evening noise of the high street. It has a fabulous interior, reflecting the huge amount of thought that went into its design. Outside is a little hut with a fireplace that we used one evening. The ski storage room has a heated boot rack and rolling coverage of the mountain’s webcams. If you travel in the summer or don’t ski, there are some really nice walks nearby, including up to a mountainside chapel that is about 20 minutes away. We might travel back in the summer, just to stay at this hotel again.…
My girlfriend and I booked a stay at Garni Eder for January 22 with Crystal Ski holidays. On looking at pictures online of the place we were somewhat wary of what to expect. However, as you can see from the pictures attached, we were pleasantly surprised. I shall say from the start it was one of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed. The whole places has been recently renovated with the rooms, corridors and dining area looking very stylish and modern whilst retaining an alpine lodge feel. On arrival we were greeted by Christine and Marcus who really make the place from a 9/10 to an 11. Christine especially is so chatty and full of energy; you can tell she has a passion for her job and loves meeting and talking to new people. We were given a complimentary schnapps and offered advice about the local area with regards to eating, skiing and must-see places. We were then guided to our room which we were just amazed by. We had the superior room which included a dining area, changing “room” (more of a corner), a huge bed, a great bathroom with rainforest shower and a balcony with outdoor bed. Please see the pictures attached although I’m sure they don’t do the place justice, it is really nice! Breakfast was the highlight of every day. Each day had different things to choose from with cheese, ham, bread, yoghurts and cereal on offer always. Every morning there was also a different surprise waiting on your plate, never disappointing. Breakfast was also Christine’s time to shine, always so keen to hear about what you’ve been up to and offering to help in any way she can. We would absolutely love to stay here again, we’ve just got to find an opportunity to get back!…
We booked a stay here through Crystal holidays for a very good value price and stayed in early January 2022. The hotel is in a great location, being nice and quiet but a short walk to the centre of town and the Penkenbahn and Ahorbahn lifts. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely owners and a glass of schnapps. The photos on trip advisor are clearly out of date as the hotel has been renovated into a lovely modern space. Our room was what you would expect from a 4 star hotel and the boot room was certainly the best I've used. I don't believe the hotel has a pool as the description above mentions, but you wouldn't expect one in a hotel of this size. The breakfasts provided are clearly quality food and offer more than could eat. Without doubt though the hotel's greatest assets are the owners and hosts, Marcus and Christine. Incredibly welcoming, full of enthusiasm and useful information, they really made the stay stand out from anything else I've experienced. You can believe all the 5 star reviews for this place. Hopefully I will be returning soon!…
