This beautiful guesthouse has one of the best locations for snowboarders wanting to get on the mountain. Smack bang between the two main lifts, it's as close as you can be. The owner was very kind, considerate and remembered our orders and foibles at breakfast. Breakfast is traditional muesli, cheese, meat bread and a choice of coffee or tea. The beds were comfortable, showers hot, rooms clean and warm. Everywhere is spotless here, which was impressive as four lovely, shy Persian cats patrol the halls, not a hair in sight. For the price, it's hard to complain about the vague whiff of cigarettes from the owner. We booked four twin rooms and paid the under occupation charge. Three out of the four rooms had balconies and the fourth had a sofa instead of chairs. I'd definitely come back, one of the nicest two star experiences I've had. …
A group of 4 of us stayed here last week on the top floor and had a great stay. The host was kind and served us a delicious continental breakfast every morning and the cleaner cleaned our rooms daily. The hotel has a dryer room along with ski racks to put your boots & skis. It is a short 2-minute walk from the Ahornbahn ski lift and near to the lively Bruck'n Stadl bar. This is good value for money if you want to be close to the lifts and the centre of Mayrhofen and have a good nights sleep. The reviews for this place are harsh and over-exaggerated.
I feel I had to write this review to clear some things up. On first entering the building there was a faint smell of smoke on the ground floor, this is where the owners have a living room, work room and probably smoke cigarettes but it's only faint and disappeared as we went up the stairs. We were shown to our rooms by a friendly elderly lady (I'm assuming she is the owner). The rooms where basic, as you can see in all the pictures, but very clean with a comfy warm bed. I stayed on the top floor at the rear of the building which had a balcony, this was great to keep drinks and food cold, with great views of the Penken gondola and the mountains. Boot room was warm and easy to access. Every day we had a basic breakfast. Laid out on the table were 1 egg per person, bread rolls and a cup of juice. The owner then came as I sat down and brought a plate of cheese, ham, salami and asked if I wanted tea or coffee! On another table were cereal, pâté and yoghurts, plenty enough to keep me going until lunch. I've seen other complaints about cats everywhere. I didn't find this the case. I personally like cats but I only got a glimpse of the cat twice all week, once it was on the stairs and ran off as soon as I opened the door, the second time it was in the garden so not much of an issue there. Now this place is a B&B so you can't want more than that, especially if you factor in how cheap this pension is.…
Basic rooms albeit well sized, breakfast limited and very poor with no choice. Housekeeping adequate. Location excellent. Ground floor smelling of cigarette smoke despite the fact that the house is non smoking. House cats have free range of house and owners seemed more concerned over the welfare of the cats than their guests. Staff could have been more friendly - we felt that we were there under forebearance. No facilities aside from rooms and ski room (boots in the boiler room). Crystal should really consider their inclusion of what was the least pleasant accommodation I have stayed in over 30 years of skiing in their programme. Would not recommend
Rooms are adequate but that is all you can say. Basics i.e. bed, wardrobe but alas everything else is cheap cheap cheap. Crimpolene horrible sheet which was not changed the entire week. Nasty pillow, so lumpy and small, had to put my ski jacket under it to try and gain a bit of comfort. Breakfast or more lack of breakfast. Traditionally Austrian breakfasts are not like our own home full fry up but come on guys, Day one - one egg per person, pre boiled and cold already on the table pre breakfast time. Two rolls and not always fresh, one slice of ham and one other type of cold meat. Day two - a pot of yogurt no choice as already on your place and that was all you got apart from the sparse meat selection. Day three - a slice of melon. Need I go on and God forbid if you asked for more than the one already poured small glass of fruit juice, still waiting...... PET ALERT - what was not mentioned anywhere was that the host has two long haired cats which have the run of the place and were left to sit on beds whilst cleaning was taking place. Unfortunately one of our party was very allergic to cats and caused their asthma to kick in and ruined the whole holiday for them. Host and daughter themselves were most obnoxious and even wagged their finger in the face of a member of our part, giving them verbal abuse when they had, through no fault of their own, inadvertently let one of the cats out the door as they made there way out one morning with skis. I think they should be reminded who was paying who for the displeasure of staying at their premises. Only good point was the proximity to the Ski Lift which was an easy 2 min walk. WILL DEFINITELY NEVER STAY AT THIS FACILITY AGAIN AND WOULD ADVISE OTHERS TO GIVE A MISS. Crystal, you need to do you research to a higher level before introducing a new facility.…
Very pleased with this guesthouse. Well-sized room, good shower, good breakfasts, friendly staff. Slight smell of smoke in the corridors but apart from that it was fine. There is a good drying room available too. Unfortunately the WiFi is quite expensive.
We booked a skiing trip with a group of friends through Crystal Ski, and we chose Gästehaus Valentina as part of our holiday package. Our room was clean with a powerful shower and a great view from the balcony, and we enjoyed a tasty Austrian breakfast every morning. We couldn’t believe how lucky we were with the location - even in ski boots, the walks to the Penken and Ahorn lifts (and most bars/restaurants in town) were less than 5 minutes! We were made to feel very welcome by the owners, but we still need to work on getting to know the cats! Thank you for a lovely stay 😊
This place was what you expected for the price. Rooms we had were clean, warm and comfortable, and both had a balcony which was a plus, as only 4 out of 9 rooms had balconies, which were shared. Breakfast was disappointing, too little option, extremely basic... The owner of the house was very nice, although the cleaner was a bit too keen in the morning to come in to your room. Location was perfect, very close to ski lifts. All in all, good for the price, but improvements could definitely be made to make the stay more enjoyable
This is not a hotel. I don't necessarily mean it in a bad way. You get exactly what you pay for. - location: 3 min walk from the main gondola - penkenbahn (if you come for skiing), next to a dance-bar called Brück'n Stadl - wifi: costs 7 euro - Breakfast: very basic - egg every other day - Service: the woman hosting us was very kind
Very nice place, its not an hotel but a guesthouse. U have continental breakfast with cold meat, cheese, breads, juice and somedays also eggs. Rooms are good, nice and clean. No refrigerator but u can just put the stuff out the window. Located 4 minutes walk from the main Penken gondola, and also around 5 minutes walk to Ahorn gondola. The hotel doesn't have spa or sauna which is a con. Overall really good place when going skiing, basic but so is the price.
