The Gasthof Zillertal is a charming old lodge on the edge of town. It is beautifully located against the mountain with a spectacular view over the Ziller and the valley. The town centre is at walking distance. Free transport to the ski lift stops right in front of our building and will take you to the ski area.

I was one of four motorcyclists who stayed here in a top floor two bed apartment for 5 days and used it as a base for our trips around the surrounding area, which is stunning. It is close to the lake and Tux where it is possible to ski all year up on the Glacier. Staff were friendly and attentive with an exceptional knowledge of the local area. Breakfast was good value @€7:50 The accommodation is very basic and a little tired but fully functional. Beds comfortable and towels changed every other day. If you are looking for 3* facilities then this may not be the place for you however if you are a back packer looking for a friendly place to stay then you can’t go wrong.

The Gasthof is located just out of town a short walk into the town centre. With great access to summer walks and the via ferrata behind the building. The staff are great, very friendly and happy to help with anything you need. The bar and common areas are nice and chilled with a selection of affordable good food. The outside terrace is very nice by the river in the sun.

Despite the average location, separated from the rest of town, our stay was very troubling with numerous condom wrappers, a used profalactic and dust balls rolling around the apartment like something out of a spaghetti western movie. Foul smell coming from the toilet reminiscent of a swamp, shower acting more like a garden hose than a flowing waterfall and full-power heating that turned off in the morning which left the room chilled like the mountain we were skiing on during the day. Manager very rude - however the rest of the staff were pleasant. No lift also, so get used to a leg workout when they stick you on the third floor. The balcony area promised was a roof-top with a fall to your near demise instead of sun loungers and an enjoyable mountain view. VERY questionable furniture, will be suitable if you're under 4ft2 and weigh under 30kgs but two members of our party fell through the bottom when we were enjoying a civilised evening meal. I'd highly recommended sitting and eating off the floor to avoid such a travesty occurring again. Would rather stay in a gondola ascending the mountain on loop than reside in Gasthof Zillertal again.

Stayed here over the weekend for 1 night and found the place dirty (hair in Bathroom, cobwebs near bed and a lady's hair pin on the floor) No heating so had a cold night. Kitchen very outdated and again dirty. I would not recommend this place as other guest houses nearby.

Where do i start.... We were a very very large group of snowboarders and skiers from a UK national club holding our annual bash at The Gasthof. The Staff: Headed up by Daan, the team at the Gasthof were brilliant. All friendly, laid back, personable... always with a smiles on their faces. They really did look after us all. We arrived meeting a great team and left with some amazing new friends! These guys and girls made this trip... They made the experience! There are also a few exceptional that have been named in this review for their level of service. Location: This is located out of the town, but about 8-10mins will get you to bars and restaurants. About 5mins is the main train station.... Absolutely perfect for either travelling into resort or visiting other local resorts such as Kaltenbach. It is in a beautiful setting right by the river.... and you can take a lovely river walk. The Facilities: The Gasthof has accomodation for visitors and seasonnaires, consisting of a mix of double rooms and apartments. All locked with digital bracelets, so now more carrying that key! So great options to select from. They have a breakfast and dinner room on site (see food and drink section). They have boot drying facilities, ski and snowboard storage, a waxing room where you can service your equipment on site. They also have a fully serviced bar and a lovely outside sitting area by the river. For those of you driving, car parking is also available. The ski bus stop is literally right outside which is a great asset and takes you to various places throughout the town. Food: The kitchen team on site are great. We had some people with dietary requirements which the head chef and kitchen team took such care to accomodate these. Thanks Thomas, you were fab and thanks for keeping us all fed! Note they dont offer a restaurant service. Evening food is offered as part of a package, not as a walk in service but bed and breakfast i believe is standard. The Bar: This is the heart of The Gasthof and where we as a group made some amazing memories! Jimmy, the Bar Manager and Maikel looked after us night after night... even catering for our groups love of spiced rum! These guys did not stop... their energy and level of customer service was fantastic. They hosted our events throughout the week.. from Quiz night to Beerpong! We were even lucky enough to become part of the end of season Beach Party they hold for the seasonnaires where they shipped in a load of sand for the bar and went all out. Something else to note... The drinks here are cheaper than in town and the spirit measures are larger too! What more could you ask for.... Well erm, perhaps not the local schnaps! Downfall of us all! Value: With all of the above, it is easy to say that The Gasthof is great value for money. Overall: Hands down, my favourite place i have ever stayed in the mountains. The mountain is smaller than others ive been too, such as Paradski and 3Valleys in France, although you do have access to other resorts using the local train. But its good terrain and the town is lovely. Final word.... We will be back, if you will have us!

Absolutely loved our stay, the staff were incredibly friendly, the rooms were spot on and the breakfast was good. Not sure about the sauna though, it had a very cheesy smell and there were lots of boots on the wall... Thanks Mayrhofen!

Stayed at this hostel for a week for the snowbombing festival. PROS: -Easy walk into town (around 20min) we walked home after each night out with no problems. -Met a great bunch of people in our room too. -Free breakfast -drying room for ski boots -lockers in the room for skis -great wifi! -good bar area with beer pong/pool and darts. -instead of a room key they use a wrist band that you keep on the whole time (saves you losing it ) CON Only downfall if I had to pick one would be the river/ street outside can sometimes be loud. However didn't really bother us in the end.

Just got back from a fantastic week at the Gasthof Zillertal on a group trip with over 60 people. I stayed in a 4 person apartment which was very spacious, adequately equipped and had a balcony looking down the valley. The breakfast is continental style but was more than plentiful with lots of choice. I also ate dinner there every night which consisted of 3 courses for a very reasonable price! The chef Thomas and his team catered for varying dietary requirements with ease. The meals were lovely, good hearty home-cooked style dishes which were just what you needed after a long day on the mountain. The guesthouse has its own bar The Riders Lounge which also does bar snacks from 4pm. The drinks prices are very reasonable for a "hotel" and there is a free pool table and darts. The manager Daan arranged a Beer Pong night for us and there was also a Beach Party on our last night complete with sand, paddling pools and inflatables! There is a snowboard/ski tuning room which is free to use and has everything you need, you just bring your own wax. There is a boot drying room and also lots of racks for boards/skis. The room keys are electronic wrist bands which is a brilliant idea! If you're looking for a 5 star hotel, this isn't it, if you're looking for a great value stay in a chilled out place with dorms, rooms and apartments then you're quids in. One tip, pick up a free pair of ear plugs at reception if your room is over the bar, a couple of nights it's open until 3am so if you're a light sleeper you may struggle :):):)

Stayed here with a large group. I was in an large apartment, which was clean and comfortable... The food was good and plentiful and the Chef Thomas went out of his way to accommodate my gluten free diet. The staff were amazing... super friendly and helpful. If you want luxury this isn't the place for you, but if you want value for money and a fantastic vibe then this is spot on <3

I came here with a group of around 65 people. The Gastof staff coped with us all very well and nothing was a bother to them to help in anyway. It isn't the most modern of places but what they have works well and is great value. The showers are very hot and are always working to capacity whenever you need them. Food was plentiful and there was no shortage of it with all things stocked up regularly. The dorms are a bit tight but thats what you expect and the beds are big and comfy. There are lockers outside which are big enough for a weeks snowboard gear. There is a heated boot room and a waxing room. The local town is a 10 minute walk away and the train station/ Hintertuxbus 6 mins walk too. There is the snowbus stop outside 20 min wait so everything is in easy reach. Wifi is free and always had an excellent connection with a full house. Well done the Gastof!!
