The Neuhaus Hotel and its apartments are very well appointed, but be aware that if you book the Landhaus annexe it is absolutely no frills. Think 1980's youth hostel in terms of room and bathroom. It's fine if you are literally just sleeping in it but you wouldn't want to be heading back to your room for any length of time if you are in the annexe.. Its grubby and tired. Our family of 7 had an annexe room for our 4 late teens boys and the very well appointed appt 8 for parents and one daughter. The Neuhaus complex is a maze of different areas, but very good location and good facilities....spa, pool, gym etc... The food was pretty good overall, but a bit predictable in the evenings. If you like soup, you're in luck! But it's plentiful and most staff very helpful. We found it quite hard to get info on day 1 , but crystal reps were around, and the hotel booklet in the rooms was very detailed. Mayrhofen as a resort was pretty much as we had expected from our research. Great town, great apres. Snow sure, as it's so high. No skiing down to the resort though. All gondola. If you are in a mixed ability group, the vastness of the ski areas can make it difficult to meet for lunch etc.... I think it's a great choice if you are all asimilar standard. Also there is a big contrast from the nursey slopes to some quite tricky blues, so if you are a slow progress skier or want to stay in your comfort zone, it may not be a good choice, but if you are a beginner who really wants a challenge by about day 3 or 4, it's great. Overall best for confident intermediates. We had a fab time in the main. Would return. …
Had a great week at the Neuhaus with Crystal last week. Cannot fault it at all !!! We were a family of six adults and two children 2 1/2 and 6 months. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The restaurant has been completely re furbished since I last stayed prior covid. It is stunning and the food matches. A big thank you to the restaurant manager and his staff for looking after us so well two small ones do make a mess !!! The reception and room maids were lovely too. A fab hotel away from the hustle and bustle but near enough for a lovely walk to the gondola - we left our skis at the shop next to the Penken which works great. We will be back !!
This is a great hotel! I don’t understand some of the negative reviews. Our experience is first class. Lovely staff especially in the restaurant. The food is good, the salad bar is fabulous and great choice at breakfast. Entertainment not the best and the bar area lacks atmosphere but that’s not important for us and it’s nice to have a change of scene at one of the other bars in town. Hotel is spotless with lovely grounds - pool gorgeous. Location perfect. Beds super comfy! I would have liked coffee making facilities in the room but that’s a minor issue. Free cakes in the afternoon a lovely touch. All in all all a great hotel and excellent service!
Wonderful location Great food, and plenty of it. Staff were amazingly attentive and nothing was too much bother. We stayed the entire week skiing Sauna, gym and jacuzzi all very good The entire experience was brilliant Hotel is very clean and tidy. Will be booking again next year Was unsure when I read previous reviews but none were justified from what we experienced
Lovely hotel spa and pool really clean . Staff very nice but busy dont seem to have time off to recharge. Strange dinner service ! ie you cannot order food until you've ordered drinks ,you cannot order drinks from food waiter so things can get abit muddled and long winded . Just remember your on holiday so no need to rush just go with the flow . Perfect area close to everything winter /summer plus just across the street from train station . Overall great hotel all staff very pleasant. Thank you had a great holiday .
Stayed as a family of five travelling with Crystal. We have stayed in many superb hotels across Austria as avid skiers and this was by far and away the worst place we have stayed. From the moment we got there we found the management style on reception rude and abrupt. Long wait to check in and then our room wasn’t ready. We arrived on New Year’s Eve and were looking forward to an Austrian celebration as usually done in style. Not here. No welcome drink and the bar is for display purposes only. We spent half an hour asking various harassed members of staff rushing through if we could order drinks and were met with very curt dismissals - all very weird. Eventually we realised that one person was servicing the bar and the drinks orders for the entire restaurant - an impossible task!! This odd service division was also in place in the restaurant resulting in slow and erratic service from exhausted and overworked staff . Morale was on the floor with staff telling us they hadn’t had a day off in 10 days and that every day was a bad day. The entire meal service could take up to 2 hrs as we waited and waited for the person allocated to us to have the time to notice us whilst those allocated to other sections had finished up and we’re laying tables for breakfast. It was a separate challenge to order drinks as staff are clearly directed as to what they can and can’t do so our waiter was unable to take a simple drinks order. It felt as frustrating for them as it was for us as they were nice people wanting to do a good job but with ridiculous constraints . We weren’t once asked to sign for drinks so given the level of chaos I kept a separate record. At the end of the week we settled with reception and our bill included two bottles of mineral water which we hadn’t had as we had only ever ordered tap water to accompany wine (still charged at €3 a pop). We were curtly told that our waiter would have to pay for the mistake which was outrageous as this had been a new staff member with broken English who had made the mistake on his first night and then corrected it without having opened the bottles. They then proceeded to haul this poor bloke out of the kitchen to cross examine him in front of us!!! It was hideous. Not least because in 3 days he had gone from being happy and enthusiastic to bedraggled with blood shot eyes and walking with a limp. I was in tears and appalled by their attitude. I hope he is ok and finds a better hotel to work in. There are much better hotels to stay in mayrhofen- don’t be seduced by their website or fancy Instagram page. It’s a false representation compared to the actual experience. I would recommend the Kramerwirt or the Strass instead .…
The hotel is ok, appartment basic but clean with nice new bathroom and comfortable beds The breakfast was good but evening meals poor. Service is very erratic. Wrong order’s bought out or no food at all. Our two sons gave up waiting for dessert orders and we waited 40 mins one evening whilst staff cleared tables all around us and set up for next day. We face up eventually We decided to eat out 2/5 nights booked due to poor service. No response from hotel management to our complaint about this.. We got the impression that unless you speak perfect German then you will be ignored. This is not the usual situation in many Austrian resorts we have visited.
We stayed in the apartments of the hotel, which seemed to be one of a number of annexes to the main building. Our accommodation was fine, fairly basic, but clean, serviced daily, good shower and perfectly adequate for us on a ski trip. We were half board, and therefore crossed the street into the main building for our meals. The restaurant seating was in a number of different rooms and, as seems to be usual in Austria, we were allocated one table for our stay. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with all the usual breakfast items and of good quality, but from the table in our allocated room it involved negotiating 3 blind corners, so each morning involved numerous near misses with either us or other residents carrying hot drinks and other items. Certainly good practice for skiing moguls later though. The evening meal was mainly table service apart from the first buffet bar salad course. The food quality was generally decent but let down by the service, which for the main courses and drinks has been hugely erratic and in our four nights so far we have had highly variable and often long waits between courses, drinks and meals requested not arriving and wrong courses served. The system of ordering one course at a time is odd and does not seem to help- we have stayed in several hotels in Austria where the service has been exemplary and either menu choices made in the morning at breakfast or at least starter/main at the beginning of the meal. The hotel cannot do much about the topography of its dining areas, but it would be nice if they could look at our comments and many similar here in these reviews , and review their service to diners. The staff have not been unpleasant or rude to us, but neither have they tried to establish any kind of rapport (language is not a barrier to this) , but this is one big factor that often makes all the difference between the rating a hotel receives.…
Pretty nice hotel otherwise, but because of one very rude male waiter (slim, in his fifties or sixties) will not visit this hotel again. Other staff was mostly ok, some more friendly and welcoming, some a bit less.
As part of an Ingram’s package we had a week half board. The food is certainly plentiful, but after a few days we skipped meals totally. Bar prices are expensive in my view, with a bottle of wine for dinner being €30 and we couldn’t see any cheaper options. Beer was €5.60 for 500ml. Meal times started to be repetitive, and the quality seemed to drop. The hotel is vast, but doesn’t feel it. Waiting staff in the Elisabeth Suite was newish to the hotel, but ultra efficient with an infectious smile and personality.
