This hotel is absolutely fantastic and offers such good value. Read Karl’s Jan 2023 review for an honest and accurate description of the whole set up. Myself and my teenage son booked a ski holiday with crystal approx £600 each. We arrived on Saturday evening at around 9pm. We had booked an annex twin room with balcony. The room we were given was ground floor no balcony. I spoke with Simon Obermair who without hesitation offered me a second floor room with balcony. He had allocated me a ground floor room as they had separate single beds at opposite ends of the room
thinking that would be my preference. Our room was clean and the whole building has a chalet rustic feel which was perfect. The room was cleaned every morning with fresh towels offered. The spa facilities, sauna, steam room and pool are modern with towels and relaxing chairs provided. The beds were comfortable and rooms as quiet as you could expect in a ski chalet. The breakfast is 5 star with fresh fruit cereal, hot meats, cold meats, eggs scrambled/ fried/ boiled and freshly ground coffee and pressed orange juice to name a few options. It was also served over three hours from 0700-1000 and well stocked. The location is good right beside the ski bus stop which is came every few minutes so we didn’t need to hire a ski locker up the mountain. It was a two- three minute walk to the commercial/social part of the town. We did miss the ski bus one afternoon because we were in the pub and it took us 10 minutes to walk back in ski boots from gondola. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. In my experience of 25 years skiing this has been one of the best European Ski Hotels where I have stayed.

We've just come back from a week skiing in Mayrhofen staying at Obermair. The staff were very welcoming and lovely. The spread for breakfast was amazing, so much to choose from and all really fresh and delicious! The beds were really comfy and well serviced each day. A little dated but everything else made up for it and was also exactly as expected from the photos. The spa area is really modern, clean and perfect place to come back to after a hard day skiing!
The location for the ski bus up to the Penkin, the main lift in Mayrhofen was right outside and only takes a couple of minutes. Then the train and bus station were only a few minutes walk to be able to then access Zell am Ziller and Kaltenbach. Both really worth checking out!
The staff were lovely and very accommodating with our check out day as we had a late flight. We were able to go off skiing and leave our luggage then were very kindly offered the use of the spa showers before we left.
Thank you for a lovely stay, we've had a great holiday!

Just left today and wanted to say what a great authentic hotel. Had brilliant view from our room in main hotel overlooking the whole valley. Hotel had nice personal feel, not too big. Excellent location just short walk to buses and Zillertal train which stops along little villages in the valley. Short stroll to Mayrhofen itself. Room was fine for us, cleaned daily, yes, could possibly need a coat of stain on some of room woodwork, but I loved all the wooden features and character. Bathrooms are a bit 'vintage' but that didn't bother us. Communal areas have lovely austrian decor and very clean and tidy. Breakfast was excellent, hot and cold, fruit, cereals, coffee, in a lovely breakfast room with doors to little patio. Would have liked a kettle in room, but everything else we loved and we hope to return. Didn't use the indoor pool but it looked nice for a dip. I'm missing my balcony view already! Thankyou.

Just don’t book it! Service and attention are terrible, that is first thing. You arrive to spend holiday in the mountains and I doubt you’d like to have smelly gasoline station 2 metres from your room. Just this already was huge disappointment, but at this point we didn’t see our room. When we entered, looked like we enter in jail room, filthy, smelly, outdated, cracked, I don’t know how many more words I can you to describe it. We just left immediately to try to figure out what to do. We didn’t really have other options for this night. We asked Agoda for large bed instead of two separate, but the thing is there was hardly even space for us to move, not to move those beds. We obviously didn’t booked cheapest hostel for this price, but room i guest was worst than cheapest hostel. Smelly inside, broken and leaking toilet didn’t let us sleep, as the sound of the other guest taking piss and coughing (sounded like in our room).

Talking about covid times, all hotels and experiences we went in austria previously asked us covid test or vaccination certificate, this hotel apparently don’t care about your safety. Be aware!

Just never had experience like this with hotels in my life. Unbelievable they even sell room like this. We didn’t still anything to be in jail like this. Obviously left this filthy place first things in the morning.

First impressions might leave you wondering if you've picked the right hotel, but stick with it. The bedroom furniture may be something from the 1980s with pine bed frames and coloured bathroom fixtures, but the homely authenticity shines through. The bedrooms are serviced every day with bed sheets and towels changed. From the reception, they'll give you a bathrobe that you can wear to the sauna(s)/ steamroom/ swimming pool. The sauna room/ pool is a complete modern contrast to the bedrooms. The hotel and annexe (garni) are connected at the basement level with a ski locker room. Breakfast (7am till 10am) is good with a mix of continental and a couple of hot items (usually bacon and egg). Other reviews may make you wonder about petrol station. Yes, it might affect the aesthetic if you're on one side of the hotel, but the pros are you can get juice/ beer/ice cream, etc. without walking up to the other nearest shop. The garage is run by the same Obermair family. The 'B' ski bus stops right outside and takes you to Penken gondola/ ski hire shop, via train station, that takes you to other ski areas (Zell am Ziller for example) or onwards to Innsbruck. Note ski pass let's you use buses and train all the way to Jenbach! Overall, it is a great choice of hotel that exceeds expectations... if you can live with 1980s furniture.

We stayed for a week for a snowboarding holiday. I just did not find the room comfortable at all and have never slept so terribly. There is a footboard on the bed which means if you are tall you feel very cramped. There are no reading lights, only one overhead light so it’s not in any way cosy. There are no kettles in the room to make tea and the sink only produces hot water so it is difficult to get a cold drink. Dated bathroom with large crack in the sink however the shower was very hot and powerful. The “balconies” are underwhelming, ours was a dark corner facing the wall of another building. The wifi did not work at all in our room. The spa facilities are nice and breakfast was ok. The hotel is clean if somewhat dated. I personally think it is worth paying a little more to have a more comfortable hotel experience.

we specified double room and we got a single room of maximum 8 square meters with a tiny window in the ceiling. the photos we saw on the website prior the booking are totally misleading. we found the room also very dirty, plus we have the toilet leaking that made our sleeping impossible. The hotel is located right next to a gas station and I can smell the odour of gasoline right in the room. For sure this is the worst experience ever had We tried to talk about the problem at the reception they just ignored us say well there’s nothing we can do about it

Great family run hotel we were looked after by the Obermair family. Great location for skiing 10 mins walk to the Penken gondola or you can take the bus just outside the hotel. Special thanks to Simon Obermair for looking after our group. Great variety breakfast. You could not ask for more at a reasonable price.

We stayed the last week of January for a weeks skiing, check in was quick and informative. The breakfast included was great - Fresh fruits, meats, warm croissants and fresh fruit juice. The coffee machines were also a bonus for a nice small coffee. There was also access to coffee and hot water 24 hours a day if needed. We had a small double room and was very small! two single beds in a 2x4 room with a small table and wardrobe which isnt shown in the hotels images. Didnt bother me too much as we were there to ski and not in the hotel much however please be aware of this if you are booking a small room. Hotel is near the town with supermarkets etc near by. Austrian decor throughout reminding me of the 80s however part of the experience - overall avrage/good rating.
