Great location if you had a car, or it's about 15 min walk in hot sun to nearest shops and restaurants. Managers were friendly but didn't know much about the area regarding transport which would of been helpful. They didn't offer to assist with local tours etc, plenty of brochures at reception. Take a $2 trolley to major shops and...

I second all the praise you hear here. We were greeted warmly when we arrived. The room (205, I think) was perched right on the ocean, attractive, clean and super comfortable. We enjoyed the abundant perks: beach/pool towels to borrow; a take-something, leave-something box; piping hot coffee; tasty free breakfast with fresh local fruit, hearty breads and cream cheese and...

This is a perfect hotel for sleeping at night, then exploring the island during the day. If you are going to want a hotel experience stay at the Hilton. I used ear plugs to block out the sound of the ocean, it was amazing, but I was so excited it kept me up at night. We didn't need air conditioning,...

When we pulled into the parking lot of the Kona Tiki Hotel and caught sight of the sparkling pool and blue-green ocean beyond, I knew we had picked the right spot. This smallish, three story property is perfect if you love the sound of the ocean instead of the air conditioner, are more entertained watching schools of neon yellow fish...

Stayed here for 3 nights on our tour of the Island and loved every minute of it. An unbeatable location right in the rocks and a 15 minute slow walk from town so you can avoid the noise and madness of Kona. We hadn't booked and just rocked up and took their last room which was on the third floor...

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon in 2004. We were suprised to see that was not a TV, radio or even a clock. However, that all seemed to help settle us down and get us working on "Hawaii Time". The sound of the waves crashing on the rock wall below our window at first seemed to be...

We stayed at the Kona Tiki with friends in June and we all really loved the stay. The rooms are motel-like with tiny bathrooms, but you're not in Hawaii for a hotel room are you? Every Lanai is oceanfront, and in the 1st floor rooms you can walk right out into the grass in front of the seawall. The ocean...

Have read many of the reviews - agree with the four and five stars. Simple, family-style hotel. Manager greets you by name at the great continental/fruit breakfast - good coffee and juice. Clean and comfy. Yes the surf is loud - fantastic. Lots of cool geckos and birds - abundance of sea life at waters edge. Brackish little pool. Plenty...

We were turned on to this hotel by family friends who have stayed there for many years. Last spring (March 2011) we went and it was the best vacation we have every had. What makes it a diamond, is not only its awesome location but its ability to welcome you as if it was a family cottage; no frills but...

This place is awesome. Perfect location, the view is really nice. They have so many things they share too.... BBQ, Big Island books, maps, sunblock, flippers and masks... mostly things people have left behind. Room 106 and 206 are the only single rooms non-kitchen. 106 was pretty noisy in the morning, 206 is better in my opinion. We stayed cool...
