Very outdated hotel and dirty. We were very disappointed spent our last two nights in Kona staying at this hotel. The pictures looked so nice on the internet but maybe they were taken when the hotel was brand new! We paid extra for an upgrade to a full ocean view as opposed to partial ocean view. Totally not worth it!...

Nice old hotel. You can see the age but it didn't matter to us. We just needed a place to sleep, keep our luggage and shower. They have 3 buildings. We were in the north tower facing inside with partial ocean view. I find it a bit noisy because of the exhaust fan noise (could be air conditioning fan) coming...

The only good thing about this place is the view of the water. It's unbelievable how bad the rooms look and smell especially considering the price. Like other reviewers have mentioned the rooms have not been renovated since this place opened like 50-60 years ago... Wifi is $10 a day, which is just crazy. Parking is also $10 per day...

I rarely (never) write a bad review. We booked 2 rooms at this hotel through Costco travel 4 months in advance. When we got there we were given a room with 2 double beds instead of a king despite our reservation that was confirmed. There was no accommodation to get us the room we requested. Additionally one rooms had the...

We arrived after a long flight from the East Coast to a minor mix-up with our room. However after some conversation, the staff at the front desk not only fixed the issue but gave us a terrific room that really made our stay. We found the property itself to be really nicely kept, and there were a couple nice spots...

The room was comfortable. Access to the ice machine was a little awkward. We were on the street side in a budget room which we requested. The hotel however is located so that when you step outside you are literally 50 yards from the ocean. Lots of black lava flows at the shore. Scenic view of the cruise ships anchored...

This resort is truly the old style charm of the 60's and everyone we encountered during our stay was very friendly and accommodating. We left Hilo a day early due to excessive rain, we checked in to our Suite, one day early at the Royal Kona for a total of 4 nights. I recommend staying in the Alii' tower towards...

My friend and I stayed at the Royal Kona Resort during the first week of December. We found it to be a pleasant place to stay. It was clean and well maintained and within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and courteous. We were told we would have a microwave and refrigerator but we ended...

The location really cannot be beat. We spent hours watching the waves crash on the lava rocks - from our room, from the pool, from the bar. The common areas within the hotel are okay. They could use some TLC. The rooms need even more TLC. This really could be such an amazing place, but as many other reviewers mention,...

We decided to drive around the island from Hilo to Kona to get away from the rain. We were not disappointed. We had a lovely room on the 5th floor overlooking the ocean. The sound of the surf was mesmerizing and sitting on the veranda at sunset was perfect. Drinks and dinner in the open air at Don the Beachcombers...
