Even for a quick, overnight trip, we enjoy staying some place special. The Bacon Mansion fits the bill. We stayed in the Capitol Suite, a large, comfortable room with lots of sitting space, a fireplace and a view overlooking the garden. The mansion is walking distance from many restaurants, pubs and bars - something for every taste. So once you... More

3 of us stayed for 2 nights in October '16. Our host was very accomodating and handled our room upgrade prior to staying with no fuss at all. The room was warm and welcoming, very roomy and quaint. Breakfast was ace, the freshly baked muffins a particular highlight! Everything was clean and the complimentary afternoon & evening drinks plus bowls... More

For those who don't like reading long reviews, here is the bottom line, up front: nice building, vague staff, minimal breakfast. Bacon Mansion is a large, three story house with comfortable common rooms on the ground floor, and a nice private patio garden. The house is in a nice tree-shaded neighborhood of similarly aged homes. The two upper floors have... More

We stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful time. The room was cozy and comfortable, but it was hot and it would be beneficial to have some sort of air conditioning for those really hot days. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was large and clean, but could use a little update. The shower drain and sink... More

We stayed here for 5 nights - had two rooms between 6 people. We arrived after midnight, had a lovely note left from Daryl the owner explaining everything we needed to know. Our room was the Capitol Suite, staff were super friendly. Breakfast was fresh and enough to start the day. Local bus stop is a stroll away and a... More

Enjoyed a few nights here in Carriage Suite. Fully accessible suite with queen bed and walk in shower. Enjoyed the privacy of this suite because it is not attached to main house with its own exterior door. Breakfast was nice. We ate outside on verandah and enjoyed the muffins and coffee with the birds and flowers. Great location. Not inexpensive... More

I found the sleeping accommodations to be adequate and the bed in the Rose room was very comfortable. What I liked best was the rest of the mansion, the many locations within and out side to mingle and rest. Its beautiful. There is freedom to respectfully do as you choose. My only complaint is no refrigerators on the 2nd floor,... More

Hospitable, clean, comfortable. Just stones throw away from so much. It doesn't feel like you're staying in the city, because the B&B is tucked away in this cute neighborhood in Capitol HIll. Arrived late, keys were waiting, left early and coffee was made. Those homemade muffins in the morning. Wow. I never review but wanted to support the small business.... More

I booked the Carriage Suite for four nights with the owner, Daryl, in August 2015 for June 2016 after reading mostly positive reviews on TripAdvisor. Over the years, with careful review of the good and bad reviews, I have rarely been disappointed. Unfortunately, this was one of those rare occasions. Daryl seemed friendly when I originally booked both via emails... More

An elegant, low key place to stay. Beautifully appointed and beautifully located and hosted. Reading host/owner Darrell's written historical account of the house and its careful renovation and restoration folliwing a 1980s fire was as pleasant and filling as the reakfast served, complete with in-house freshly baked muffins.
