Everything you'd expect from a towering hotel in the middle of a active city! Great service, great room, pleasant staff and cleanliness. The pool and locker areas were delightful and well managed. We stopped up to the restaurant for a nightcap and dessert - and were equally in awe of the food and the view. At night - they woke...

We stayed at the Captain Hook about five years ago and we are looking forward to visiting again later this year. It was, by far, the best hotel experience of all our travels. The rooms were elegant overlooking the city, the service was excellent, and the location was central to events in the city and close to the cruise ship.

I am a Masters swimmer and try to get in between 1 to 3 miles a day. This pool has a health club in the basement with a somewhat quirky, but excellent pool It's quirky because it's a lap pool that spans 17 yards. In other words, 100 laps gives you just short of a full mile. One of the...

Our room, #1868, overlooked 4th and 5th streets with the mountains in the background. The mountains changed colour depending on the sunlight: sometimes white, sometimes grey, or pink, etc.. We used all three restaurants and enjoyed something about each. The Whale's Tail has a wine dispenser; really too expensive per glass but fun to use. Crow's Nest - ask for...

We had a great experience. The front desk staff, the doormen, housekeeping, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our room was exceptionally clean which I appreciated. The location can't be beat. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in the hotel to meet your needs. The pizza at Fletcher's is great, but the rest of the food we had was...

I stayed here on a stopover from Seattle to Fairbanks for two nights - great facilities, top notch WiFi which is always helpful and great gym and pool facilities. There was plenty of choice on dining too. Short walk to the shops and museums and great views from many of the rooms too. The only downside which is very minor...

Although billed as a 5-star luxury hotel, it does not compare to others I've stayed at. It is clean and comfortable, but more on a 4-star level -- perfectly adequate and fine for almost everyone. The food in the restaurants, including breakfast was quite good. So, I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to spend a few days in Anchorage. The...

My husband surprised me with a romantic get away in the city for Valentines Day. He chose this hotel for its reputation and location. The suite was nice, a little boxy, but the carpet was a let down, it was wool tiles that were not comfortable to walk on barefooted. The view was ok, mostly city with a glimpse of...

Staff ... staff ...staff. The main reason i frequent the Captain Cook is staff. From the bellman, valet parking to the food servers and bartenders always a great stay. Plus they are a union hotel, all the more reason to support them.
