Hotel's Favourite
If you are taller than 5'5" you will have to duck down to use the shower. The shower head is super low. I was close to hitting my head and I'm 5'4". However, I liked that they had full bottles with pumps for shampoo and conditioner. They were locked in so No one could mess with what is in them.
The pool was small and chilly but nice.
The guy at the front desk when we checked in was very nice. We got a room with 2 queens and a pull out sofa. There was no bedding for the sofa bed in the bag. They brought it very fast when I called though. The beds were better than most hotel beds. It was nice to have a choice on pillows. They had soft and firm ones and they were labeled.
Sleeping was a challenge though for 2 reasons. First, the heater worked well, but every time it turned on the wands on the curtains would click together the whole time but we didn't want them open. The worst thing was that in the walls there was a really weird noise more often than not. The closest I can describe it is like rain on a tin roof, but in the walls and loud. We were on 2nd floor.
The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had. Oh, they also had a nice outlet in the bathroom that had a built in night light so you didn't have to turn on the huge light if you needed the bathroom at night.

Avoided the downtown rush coming and going - 80 to 880 to 680 to Maple - easy in and out. Good hotel with beds, bath, tv, and wifi all acceptable. Breakfast consisted of 4 hot options plus numerous others too, rare for these Covid days, where often we have received a paper bag with a bottle of water and a packaged roll or muffin. Nice to have some protein for a change!

The hotel is new and clean. The front desk is friendly. Nice place to stay, little bit on edge of town but lots of building going on.
My gripe is that we stayed there for four days, spent over $800 and they charged us a $7.00 late fee because we arrived at 6:00 a.m. on our first night. Mind you, we paid in full for the night and I called them in advance to let them know we would be arriving late. Because of work commitments, we had to drive through the night and had to sleep a couple hours before attending our granddaughter's baptism.
Seriously, a $7.00 bogus charge on an $800 plus bill????
Review your bills.
I have emailed and asked for an explanation.

Why is it so hard to install shower curtain rods level. The purpose of this style curtain rod is to expand the tub space. The way it is installed (see photos uploaded) the curtain tends to fall down the rod. It does hang lower at the center, and draps across bottom of tub. Nothing worse than stepping on wet cloth while showering. I will bet any manager that had a shower curtain installed in their own home like this would have it corrected. Might as well install straight rods.
I hate this new trend hotels are doing by installing bottles of bathing fluids. Sure it appears secure that no one can tamper with product. Don't fool yourselves, much easier to open than you think. Bring your own supplies, hotels probably prefer this anyway, less expense and wast if opened product.
When the mattresses have obvious divits it is time (part time) to rotate or flip mattresses. Better yet when they get to this point replace them. Not comfortable at all.

I stayed here recently with my husband and sister on a recent road trip. The hotel is dog friendly so my sister had no problem taking care of her pet during our stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff was very helpful. They suggested eating at Charleston’s ( a short drive from the hotel) and the recommendation was spot on. We wanted a casual steak house and this was perfect. A good experience in Omaha.

Although this is a nice hotel in a convenient area, the service is horrendous! We spent five nights with our grandchildren and the hotel refused to clean the bathroom or vacuum the room. They would only make the beds and bring clean towels. Disgusting ! I spoke with the manager several times. He said this was new covid policy. He said he would make and exception and have our bathroom cleaned, but that never happened. We also had a clogged drain in the bar sink that took three days to fix. Very poorly runned hotel.

Response from General Manager, Owner at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Omaha West, an IHG hotel
Responded 3 Oct 2022
Hi Mary, Thanks for taking the time to review our hotel. We are sorry you had a poor experience and will use your feedback as training for our team. When your sink was clogged, we addressed it immediately and even had a professional plumber called the same morning. The earliest he could have arrived was in the evening. Honoring your request, we had him come in the following day. I understand there was a miscommunication on how we are cleaning rooms. IHG standards mandates that we lightly service reservations that are staying more than 1 night. We are to replenish any used coffee, cups, soaps, as well as replace used towels, take out the trash and make the bed. We did however, clean your room when you asked us to. We are not refusing to clean. We have a strong housekeeping team that works well with our front desk department. We hope you see our shortcomings in the maintenance department and the housekeeping department as one time instances and we hope you give our hotel a second chance the next time you visit Omaha. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out GM@hiexpomahawest.com

Very quiet and restful stop. The staff were also friendly and helpful. And, the breakfast bar was great (e.g., sausage, eggs, yogurt, fruit, bagels, etc.). The menu changed for the next morning. I had reviewed several other hotel/motel accommodations in the Omaha area before choosing this hotel. Some of the other locations were brutally honest and were very helpful in making this selection.

This is an extremely convenient and nice hotel. It is close to everything. My gym, shopping, dining are all very convenient. The staff here is amazing as well! Tasha, General Manager is hilarious, personable and possibly the hardest working hotel manager I have ever met. Constantly working to make folks stay perfect. This hotel is almost like a visit to Grandmas house as friendly as the staff is here. Just amazing! Mandi and Kim have fantastic personalities and make this a great place to stay. Courtney and Tim are also constantly working to make this the awesome hotel it is. I see them so busy and all are very pleasant. This is truly one of the most friendly hotels I’ve stayed in. My room was equally nice about mid-hallway just like I like it. Almost like they read my mind. All the staff work hard to make this a great place to stay. I will definitely return the next time I’m in Omaha.

we took a trip to see the zoo and looked online for a hotel. this was supposed to be the #1 hotel, yeah right. i booked double queen beds, when i got there we were given a king suite with a fold out couch. we had booked 2 nights and we couldnt have queens the next night so i said, fine. until i saw it. the couch was a tiny little thing they had got off the street and the mattress pad was filthy with urine stains and so thin you felt the bar in the couch. plus water from above had left a huge stain in the cieling and it smelled moldy. no way could any adults sleep on that couch and i wouldnt let my kids go near it. i went back down and said i wanted the queens for this night and cancel tomarrow night. what i bad start to our trip. plus this hotel is so far out of town i see no need to stay there. also our little dog got a rash from the carpet. just an all around bad hotel. no more holiday inn anything for us.

Response from TKDOS, Director of Sales at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Omaha West, an IHG hotel
Responded 9 Sept 2010
This came through our reservation system as a non-specific suite, not a double queen bed room. Unfortunately, travelers often times do not understand what room type they are booking when they go through third party Internet sites. We always encourage guests to call our front desk to verify their room type and make any other special requests they might have. We inherit these third party reservations. If notes are not in the reservation, you will get what you booked. The room type complaint is obviously not our error, but we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. If the double queen suites had not been sold-out, we would have been more than happy to have changed your room type. You were placed in a King bed suite with a full sized pull-out sofa bed. You mentioned that the mattress was urine soaked. The General Manager and I just went to this room and took photos. We are happy to provide these at your request. There was a purple stain on it. I am assuming that was not urine. It is being cleaned. You said the sofa bed was "teeny tiny". It was a full sized mattress. You said there was a water stain above the soaf-bed on the ceiling. There was a water stain above the king bed but not above the pull-out, as you mentioned. We apologize about the water stain. It is now being painted. As for your following comment, "plus this hotel is so far out of town I see no need to stay there." We have a high occupancy at this property, so I don’t think it would behoove us to close the hotel. Many guests choose to stay in West Omaha and take the 20 minute trip to downtown Omaha. I apologize you did not realize we were a 20 minute drive to the zoo when you chose our location, another reason to call the front desk after booking with a third party Internet site. Also, we are a serious business property, not only a leisure hotel. There are multiple businesses located in West Omaha and their clients enjoy the quiet suburban area surrounded by shopping and restaurants. As far as the dog getting a rash from our carpet, which is cleaned on a regular basis, I think perhaps he was allergic to the cleaning solutions? Because you had a bad experience at our hotel, and many other hotel chains (according to your TripAdvisor reviews) please do not judge the entire IHG Hotel Brand because of one bad experience. You are welcome back anytime. We rise to our challanges.
