Detailed Reviews
My family and I choose to stay at this hotel every year when we visit the zoo in Omaha. We have stayed here for countless consecutive years. We have stayed with them through 'thick and thin'. Examples such as when their pool was closed due to construction (with no one at the desk letting us know this), to putting up with their leaky roof in the pool area, to not being able to use the hot tubs due to some detergent soaping it up so much we were afraid to use it. We've also had very positive views of this establishment: we enjoy the pool, free Wi-Fi and free breakfast. We have on occasion gone to the Shark's Club with no adverse consequences. We've never had any concerns for our safety while staying there. The area that concerns me is the changes that are apparently being made by the Choice hotel chain (or at least that is what the desk people claim). Last year the change was to pool hours for minors. No minors under 18 are allowed in the pool AT ALL (with or without parents) past 9:00p.m. We had not reached the hotel until 8p.m. so our daughters didn't have any time to enjoy this amenity. We were told by the desk this policy change was made due to elderly guests with rooms by the pools complaining about children making too much noise in the pool later in the evening. What about the younger kids who would like more than an hour to swim and have fun?
Our last stay (April 11th) involved their 'new policy' that was instituted last month of charging an extra $150 on your debit card if you use it to pay for the room. They also charge this if you pay in cash (which makes NO SENSE whatsoever). The only way around this racket is to use a credit card, which we don't have. We were told by the desk clerk that our bank has to 'release the $150 back to us' after we check out which could take anywhere from 2 to 20 days. They also have a new policy that if you do not bring your pool towel back to the desk, they will charge you $2 for that towel. REALLY? You're going to tell me that many hotel chains do this? I don't think so. Plus the girl at the desk (long blond hair with a nose ring) was very rude in her new explanation of the policy with her tone of voice.
I also noticed while we were at the hot tub (which was WAY TOO HOT by the way), that there were few people even staying in rooms that were poolside. So why even have your no minor past 9p.m. rule? Or is your 'don't book rooms by poolside' another 'policy' instituted by the hotel chain?
I think my husband and I have decided not to stay here again. This is a shame after so many good years of staying here. Too many policy changes and too many hoops to jump through to stay here anymore. If I don't get my $150 back, this hotel chain can expect more negative reviews from me and expect to be contacted by my local bank for an explanation.

Decided to go Omaha, and selected Quality Inn as the hotel of choice. We've stayed here periodically over the years, and it has changed from the better (our first stay, i thought It was a bit questionable). However, the rooms have been remodeled and are quite nice (keeping in mind it's an older hotel), nice TV, comfortable beds, little fridge. The pool is the primary reason to come, as it's large (newer hotels have postage stamp pools), clean and have a couple of hot tubs. The continental breakfast is average, but most hotels are, i do wish the peanut butter was individual servings instead of a communal jar. I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, my son left a pillow in the room, and returned to find it waiting for us at the front desk. I've read the other reviews slamming the hotel, but our experiences have always been good. For the money, I would recommend to friends.

Responded 4 Mar 2013
Thank you for your comments. We honestly work very hard to insure guests have a quality stay at our hotel. We have gotten both positive and negative reviews from people who have stayed with us. Positive ones, such as yours, give us the opportunity to feel good about a job well done. Negative ones, however, allow us to evaluate and examine what and where we need to improve upon. Again, we are happy you had a good stay with us. We hope to receive your business again soon.

Yep. See my photos for info on this, but suffice it to say, if you are a 2A person, you don't want to book here, period.
Well, I had booked here without knowing that, and not having time to rebook elsewhere, I dealt with it, and here's what I found:
This hotel features a large pool and a nightclub. Normally, I avoid such properties, because I'm looking for a quiet nights sleep, not excitement. Luckily, I was on the opposite side of the building from the nightclub, and decently insulated from the pool area.
The bathroom in the handicapped room was... dated at best, and the layout could be an issue for anyone that actually had to deal with it in a wheelchair.
The parking lot was weirdly shaped, tight cornered, and had people parking waaay too large of vehicles in waaay to small of parking spaces (many occupying 2-3 spaces) just to try to get close to the doors. There were plenty of parking spaces on either side of the building, but the main doors were "in the middle" where the roads were narrow. People were even parking in the "fire zones" just to get close to the doors. Overall, it was a mess.
When I took a shower, I had to be very careful with the temp settings. About five times, it suddenly went to "all hot water" on me without warning. I ended up using pretty much straight cold to prevent being scalded. No fun at all.
I was to stress that I was on the outside of the facility, and decently away from the pool when I say this one: The building smelled of water all the time. It smelled perpetually wet. That was odd.
When attempting to use their free wifi, I got an SSL error on one node, but not on another one. Goofy.
This is a multi-story property, but no elevators. Keep that in mind if you have any problems with stairs.
The ice machine was decent, and produced good "hard" ice (not just barely frozen), but the machine itself was spewing ice at random all over the floor. Perhaps that had something to do with the perpetual water smell.
This facility cost me more than I prefer to spend, and had me annoyed from the moment I walked up to the door. I'm going to make sure I don't repeat this mistake again.

Absolutely horrible stay. Beds were harder than a rock not comfy at all. Worked nights n didn’t get back till 7-8 in the morning front desk clerk got snippy with the crew members, because “you’re parked to close to the yellow lines”. Yelled at us because we wouldn’t move our service truck even tho it fit just fine in the parking lot. Wasn’t busy at all, no one could get phone signal in the building. Very bad experience, NEVER again. Wouldn’t wish this stay on my worst enemy.

My wife and her family used to meet in Omaha for their annual reunion when she was younger. They would stay at this hotel because of the pool area and accommodations. She has always talked about this place and the fond memories made there. We needed to stay in Omaha for 2 nights for her brother's graduation. We stayed there so our kids could experience this "special" place.
IT WAS AWFUL!..
There were signs every where about their policies w/ food and use of amenities. When making a request to the front desk, we were met with VERY rude people from management down. My wife was yelled at by the breakfast attendant for how she used the high chair. The food was terrible, the beds were outdated hard spring mattresses. The furniture, shower and toilet were in much need of updating. I have worked in the Customer Service industry in the past for various companies and my wife has managed 2 hotel chains. Take our advice.. Find another hotel.

Checked in after 600mi day. Booked on Choice app mobile. When arrived was told that all guests have to pony up $150 if paying cash. This after informed desk clerk myCC was on file for incidentals. Didnt matter. $150 was required. Told her not swiping card. She then took card and used CC stamp machine to record number. I am an Elite Diamond member with Choice for last 6 years. Treated like some random street guest. I dont trash rooms and travel alone. Not thank you for staying or any pleasant words out of night clerk. Morning was worse as I guess my displeasure from check in was told to morning clerk Tina. Nothing but a scowl and another lecture about why guests need to deposit the hefty amount of $150. As an Elite Diamond member options are endless for lodging. Mgt might want to keep in mind when policies affect their bread and butter drive customers away. Never again.

Granted... It was a holiday weekend, and rooms were at a premium; but still, there was NO EXCUSE for the nature and condition of the room we were given!
Cracking ceiling flocking, black spots (mold?) beneath an antiquated a/c wall unit (noisy as hell), an unmade bed, and a carpet more suited to a whorehouse than a "quality" inn - this location was in such desperate need of repair/upgrade as to be laughable on its' face..!!

I hesitated to review this hotel after reading the multitude of extremely defensive and accusatory responses from the manager, but decided not to be intimidated. I will say that I think this review is extremely fair and balanced, and that although it is my own personal opinion, people come to TripAdvisor to read others' opinions in order to form a sense of what the property is like.
My main concern with staying at this property was safety. As a female traveling alone, I would caution others who are safety-conscious against staying here. The parking lot is supposedly secure, but I had a few frightening moments as I came and went in the evening to get dinner with men in cars circling the lot, shouting at me, and beginning to follow me as I made my way towards the hotel entrance. I made the huge mistake of looking up the hotel on TripAdvisor after I was in for the night, and reading about the stabbings, shootings, and other criminal activity that has taken place at the attached bar/club in the last 5 years (as recent as 2013). Though the Shark Club may be a separate entity, its close proximity and relationship with the hotel mean that bar patrons can and will interact with hotel guests. I encountered this in the parking lot. As the manager has said, the hotel staff are not responsible for the bad or criminal actions of other people, and that these types of things happen everywhere. This may be partially true, but if people feel unsafe at the hotel (as others have stated) then there is an issue specific to this property that should be addressed. Another reviewer mentioned their car getting shot up in the parking lot... I'm sorry, but this does NOT happen at every hotel. It could happen, but it doesn't happen, for a variety of reasons that I'm sure those hotels make a point of addressing. I do a fair amount of solo travel and have never felt this insecure at a hotel/motel/hostel.
As others have said, the building is desparately in need of updating. It actually made me a little sad, because one can see how this property would have been very cool and modern in its prime. I think it deserves that now. I don't think even a complete overhaul would be necessary; the hotel could easily embrace its 70s vibe and play up some of the charm of that. Even just adding some better lighting and getting rid of the musty smell would go a long way. The free breakfast was not the worst I have had, but most other complimentary hot breakfasts I have had at other hotels were better than this one.
There were several nice things about this hotel and I don't want those to be completely diminished by the "bad". The wifi was free and reliably fast, which I always appreciate when traveling on business. Although in need of updating, my room was clean and comfortable. I slept quite well and had no issues with noise of any kind, whether from other guests or from the parking lot. The breakfast was free and the waffles at least were fine. Additionally, the staff that I interacted with were helpful, professional, and accommodating. My room was placed in the corner opposite and farthest away from the bar/club; I don't know for sure that this was intentional, but it was much appreciated and made me feel at least a little bit safer. Check-in and check-out were seamless and simple. I'm sure it's not easy to manage a hotel property, especially one so obviously in need of a little TLC, so I appreciated the efforts made by the staff to make my stay as nice as possible.
I would not stay here again or recommend it to others, primarily as I have stayed in other hotels in the area that offer better free amenities (breakfast, wifi, etc.), better facilities, and a safer-feeling environment.

This place is filthy. I mean it's really dirty. I'm guessing the carpet hasn't seen a vacuum for years. The bathrooms are full of mold. The toilets run constantly. The air conditioners sound like a garbage disposal. The pool is cold. The staff is too busy standing outside smoking cigarettes to take care of anything. In an effort to remove any sort of work to the landscaping, they've "planted" plastic flowers and plants into the dirt. Take your money elsewhere and find a hotel that doesn't suck. Maybe this one will get bulldozed someday soon.

My family and I were driving through Omaha and needed a place to stay. We didn't want to spend a lot of money as it was just a place to lay our heads for one night. We saw the Quality Inn on 72 and thought we would give it a try. It was a little more than we wanted to pay, but still reasonable. The outside appeared a bit run down with weeds growing up through cracks in the parking lot. We went in and the two people at the desk were engaged in a conversation about a person they both seemed to know who was either in jail or prison and continued the conversation while I stood there. They registered us and we went to the room. We walked up to the second floor and my husband went in to the bathroom. There was very little paper on the roll and not another roll in the room. Yet it had been folded in the hotel paper fold. I called the front desk and we waited maybe 5 minutes and so I ventured down to the lobby. When I told the person who looked to be in charge that we needed paper, she just looked at me and said rudely, "You too? Wait, what room are you in?" She then told me someone was on their way. I did meet the person as I was returning to the room. My husband then noticed the bedside table had rings of sticky on it like from a can of pop. We then decided to look the rest of the room over. The shower was dirty. Mold and black stuff were on and around the suction mat in the tub. My daughter pulled the sheets off the corner of the bed to check for bedbugs. Thankfully, we didn't find any. The mattress itself was stained and gross looking. It was at that point that we decided to look for another place to stay. We went to the lobby and told the person there, that the room was just too filthy and that we wanted out credit card credited. She looked as though she as going to argue with me then appeared to change he mind. It was at that time the house keeping person was walking past and they decided to go inspect the room together. There were many hotels within a 3 block area. We ended up staying at one across the street. I would like to point out we were coming off a week road trip and had many hotel stays that week. We never once felt we couldn't stay at a property due to uncleanliness.
