When I read the reviews on here about this hotel, I booked it. I should have read Yelp as well. It was much more accurate. We have stayed in many historic upscale hotels and we normally love them. The Palmer in Chicago is wonderful. The Skirvin in OKC is as well. This however is not even in a league with those two. The staff is friendly and the food at The District is ok, when they tell you what they have correctly. The rooms however are sub-par. There were hairs, that were not ours, all in the shower when we arrived. They are incredibly stingy with their towels! The curtains were stained and ripped in several areas. There were tiny gnats all over the room. The toilet tank lid was cracked. The drain stopper in the bathroom sink was broken. The vent in the bathroom was broken and since there is only a sliding barn door, the whole room felt like a sticky sauna after we took showers. Forget frills, the basics of this hotel were anything but upscale. If we had paid $100 a night for the room I would have overlooked a lot of this but when you are paying $200-$250 a night. NO WAY!

I can always count on the Magnolia, Omaha to come thru! They go out of their way to accommodate your every wish. If I had ANYTHING constructive to mention, it would be their WIFI. It was so hit and miss during this last stay. BUT, I am totally looking forward to my next opportunity to stay there!

I just spent three nights at Magnolia with my executive team. We stayed at the hotel and had all of our meetings in one of the meeting rooms. Everything was perfect. The staff was the highlight. So kind and so helpful. The hotel was very cool and had modern amenities and historical charm. The location was great for restaurants and nightlife. I highly recommend this hotel and the exceptional service they offer. ALL good!

First impression was that the staff was very friendly. The hotel has a cool, older look to it. The hotel has a restaurant/bar, but it has strange hours (something like 4pm - 10pm.) There is also a nice little courtyard that has shaded areas to sit. Our room was fine except for one annoying feature, and it's kind of a deal breaker. The bathroom door is not a standard one, it's a sliding barn door, but the hotel installed a piece at the bottom that keeps it form being flush with the wall; the result is that you cannot have any privacy in the bathroom as there is a gap between 'closing' the door and the wall. Don't get me wrong, I love my wife, but I don't need to be laying in bed and look over and watch her do her business - just a really dumb decision to choose form over function. The hotel itself is in a pretty sparse location, but it is a very convenient walk to the Old Market area. I feel bad giving Magnolia only three stars, but if not for the bathroom door it would be four.

The building is a gorgeous, classic old building. The rooms are nice as is the lobby but look closely and things are a bit worn around the edges. The neighborhood feels deserted, not at all where the charm or action is in town. But the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and the beds were comfortable, as was the room in general.
