We have been to the Retreat several times, and always enjoyed it, and this time was no different, we had a brilliant time, the location, activities, cycling, staff, food, local village are all fantastic, and it is great value for money. It is now run by Playitas, it is not run by Neilson, only the bikes and beach area (kayak & SUP) are run by Neilson, and Neilson are only allocated a % of the total rooms, the rest of the guests tend to be from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, everything else is operated and run by Playitas, and that has brought some changes from before. Personally i thought the new set up was excellent, but there is definitely a high focus on fitness, which may or may not put some people off trying something new for the week as the standard is suddenly very high. The social side in the evening is different to how it was before. eg a couple of the neilson staff were having a drink in the bar after they finished for the day to be told by playitas staff to either change their tops out of nielson branded gear or the beer would be removed from them, playitas staff by all accounts are banned from drinking on the premises completely. So for a lot of returning guests who have previously been with Neilson, and are expecting the same then you may be disappointed. I still thought it was great and would go back no problem at all. Big shout out to Victor, Chris, Josh the bike guides, all top guys.

Such value for money , we went Kayaking, waterskiing , sup board and many more activities all included. The food was delicious and staff are so friendly. Absolutely perfect holiday. The hotel did the covid test so we did it there at the fraction of the price of UK.

The setting on this hotel is stunning, the sunrises and sunsets are amazing and whilst there's a lot of steps in the resort it's worth the walk down and up to the beach. We were a bit shocked at having to wade to the watersports beach as the Neilson's website says it's a shallow paddle across....i'm 5ft 6 and my knickers got wet!!
We tried most of the activities on offer and all the instructors and staff were great. Cycling is hilly, their "blue" route bike had a 5km climb with over 250m elevation gain in it (but coming back down was fun!). Personally I would have liked a bigger swimming pool, it's only 18m so you have to swim a lot of lengths to get anywhere!
The room was modern and clean, we're not so keen on the glass door to the bathroom but that's a minor gripe. We had a couple of issues that were dealt with promptly by reception.
Food was fairly basic but tasty - lots of grilled chicken, fish etc with rice / chips / local potato dishes and a great choice of salads every day.
Temperatures were mid to high 20's between the 18th and 25th Sept so ideal for doing activities but also warm enough to relax by the pool.
It's a short walk downhill to Sivota harbour where there's plenty of options for food and drink in an evening but it's very uphill on the way back. Take a torch as it's not lit for most of it either. A taxi cost 5E if you don't want to walk.

Beautiful scenery set on top of a large hill! Prepare to use your legs!!! We were in one of the lower rooms near reception and still found the steps a strain at times.
Great hotel staff. Rooms spotless, daily housekeeping great.
Food in general was good although a few evenings there wasn't anything that took our fancy. Tonnes of salad and fresh fruit available daily during breakfast lunch and in the evening.
Bar stocks a fantastic range of everything, average pricing and friendly staff.
A great variety of classes provided by different instructors. Gym well equipped with everything you could possibly wish for.
Unfortunately we experienced some awful weather during our stay therefore the sup and kayaking were limited to a tiny area within the bay.
We felt Neilsons lack of communication especially in wet weather was below standard. The transfer information was lacking and unclear on arrival. Having said that during the evening's of awful weather they did provide some entertainment to help see the nights through.
All in all I would definitely return however I feel that the Neilson part of this hotel is not up to usual standard & it needs to be made very clear when booking the divide in services between different companies.

This was our second visit to the Sivota Retreat. The hotel has benefitted from some investment over recent years with the hotel facilities, restaurant, gym and fitness areas all looking great. The collaboration with Playitas is working well most of the things we go on a Neilson holiday for still being there (cycling, kayaking , paddle boarding, exercise classes) The food was improved from the last visit - there is plenty of choice with a focus on fresh fruit, vegetables and the vegetarian offering was good. I spent most of my holiday with the beach team, they are doing a great job this year with all the changes. I went on all the kayak, sea kayak and paddle board trips, some of them more than once! Spent lots of time on the water exploring goat island and the interesting coast line. Also went to some exercise classes (taught in Swedish by the Playitas team but they all speak some English and are happy to translate the important points) I also did some of the more gentle bike rides, the resort is in a very hilly location so thank you Victor and Chris for the encouragement to keep going up the hills. We enjoyed every bit of our 2 weeks - would defiantly go back again another year.

The whole way through this trip was perfect. The hotel rooms had plenty of space, very clean and with its own fridge to keep food and drink. On the first morning, I was welcomed by a stunning view of the sea and islands from our balcony. Boiling hot! Sun lotion is essential. I spent much of my time paddleboarding and kayaking, all of which were so peaceful and relaxing. However, other activities such as waterskiing, cycling and tennis are also a must-do.
The sea was very calm and clear and had lots of fish, so I would recommend this neilson resort to any snorkelers.
The food at this resort was amazing! Every day brought a different meal, all delicious and top-quality! The staff were super kind and helpful. This place has a swimming pool if you're ever looking for a more relaxed day.
A brilliant trip, great location, beautiful seas, fun activities, great staff and delicious food. The usual perfect from neilson. I'd highly recommend!

Don’t let the number of steps in the Retreat put you off. If you are looking for an activity holiday that includes fitness and relaxation classes, challenging cycling, a wide variety of water sports, padel or normal tennis and a gym - then this is the perfect holiday for you. The Retreat is set in a stunning location and the staff could not have been more friendly, professional and encouraging. I met new friends and came home fitter than when I arrived (and I still managed to enjoy the great food and the cocktails in the bar). The hotel accommodation is of a good standard, very clean and comfortable. I tried new activities in this stunning setting, like paddle boarding and enjoyed some great kayaking group trips, as well as a group cycle ride to Perdica, for example. I have never been so busy on holiday! Unlike me, if you are a hard core cyclist then there are plenty of even more challenging rides for you to try and the stretch classes in amongst a busy programme of fitness classes will really help with tight muscles. I am sure my experience was not a one off and that Neilson’s Sivota Retreat must be consistently amazing because so many guests told me they return again and again. I know I will.

Loved the location, view, crystal clear water, friendly personnel, sports possibilities!!

But we were extremely disappointed that despite informing the reception in advance, informing the restaurant and asking the kind and helpful personnel it was difficult to find suitable food from buffet and from breakfast table. Just an excample there was gluten in almost everything, even in salads.
Also the food in general was disappointment, for a four star sports hotel you could expect to find fish or some vegan protein in the breakfast table.
There was some dinner hihglights worth mentioning, grilled octopus was delicious!!

In the morning if you wanted to join instructed sports you eighter skipped breakfast or need to train with full stomach. The classes were at 9 or 10 when breakfast was 7.30 to 10.
Note to people with food allergies, don’t pay for half or full board, it’s not worth.
Another issue was the selection of sports, everything (fun) happened during the same hours. And the most popular sports were fully booked in record time.

We have had the most fantastic 10 days. We have been visiting since 2010 and every year until 2016. The hotel is as beautiful as ever and all the staff are fantastic with nothing being too much trouble and it was great to see Andreas is still the hotel manager. The focus has now changed to fitness so we did miss the sailing. There were a couple of large very noisy groups who had brought their own instructors and dominated some of the areas at times during the day but there was still plenty to do to get away from this. Natasa the activities manager was great and if you do have any issues and speak to her she will go out of her way to make things right. Stefanos the resort manager is lovely and friendly and again if you have any issues he will do his best to sort things out. The beach, skiing and tennis guys were all great and Marc and the bike team were really good, Marc was very patient with me as I struggled with the hill up to the hotel. The food was great. We chose to eat out each night but only because we love the town so much and wanted to visit the lovely local restaurants. Particularly loved Ostria best Moussaka ever. My last but not least shout out goes to Penelope (Poppy). She is the most lovely lady with an amazing smile and makes the best cocktails ever. All the bar team are great but Poppy looked after us so well. We made some great friends and I was very sad to leave. We will be back, I will never tire of the fabulous views all around the hotel.

We have just returned from a fortnight at the Sivota retreat. As commented on other reviews, there are a lot of steps, but this is a small price for the setting which is just beautiful. Facilities are superb, wide range of activities on offer but what really sets this place apart is the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. My daughter has a severe food allergy and was initially concerned about what she could eat, however this was short-lived as the Head Chef gave her a tour of the restaurant on her first few evenings to advise her what to avoid. He was always on hand for any further questions about ingredients - exceptional service and delicious food too!! The lack of kids club suited us well, with teenagers in tow, but it might have been nice to have an introductory social activity for them. All round fantastic resort. Hoping to return next year.

No beach bags in any of the rooms, no snorkels either. Take your own. Phone coverage perfect from what I recall. WIFI pretty good too. Take your refillable water bottles too.
