Rooms - Spacious room, comfy beds, big bathrooms with a towel warmer and a whirlpool in your room. I just wish the curtains were thicker to block out the midnight sun in the summer. *Be careful with the whirlpool, the suction is extremely powerful and it could be very dangerous. Watch out if you have children and if you have...

This hotel lived up to all expectations, staff were helpful and friendly. The manager spoke to us during diner which wad nice to see as no other large hotel in iceland had this. We stayed in the Junior suites with Australia and south American themes which were incredible and full of character, would encourage booking these though rather pricey! Used...

I was expecting an amazing hotel. Looks great on the outside but room is ordinary. What I do not like is everyone walks pass my room to the hot jacuzzi outside my room. They can look into my room unless I drew the curtain. They do not have day curtain so once I drew the curtain, my room is pitch...

A wonderful 3 days at this beautiful hotel. From check in experience to the African themed suite, dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, the polite hotel employees it was just a magical 3 days. Nothing was too much for them and they were very helpful and patient answering all our questions. We were very spoilt. Definitely making a return visit.

This hotel really lived up to the expectation and exceeded it somewhat. After reading the reviews I was expecting something pretty awesome, and it was just that. The hotel itself is pretty much in the middle of no where, thus a fantastic spot for those who want to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights (which I was lucky enough...

This hotel gets a top mark because of the quality of the staff and the lovely dining room and bar area. The rooms were comfortable and well furnished. We stayed here on a two day tour of the Golden Circle and the South Coast and the location gave us more flexibility than doing day trips from Reykjavik. We had an...

We stopped here on our tour and it was the best of all the hotels. Surrounded by mountains, hot tubs abounding, jacuzzi's in the bathrooms and excellent food. The people who worked here were lovely and the free chocolates at the front desk were delish. Our room faced a parking lot but it was spacious and since I am a...

On my second trip to this hotel, dinners were even more delightful than I remember. The wine selection is nice and bar area most inviting. The staff and facilities are lovely, the breakfast delicious and ideal. The rooms are basic and a little small, but clean and beds are fine. It is pricey, but a somewhat fair value given the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Ranga is a luxury countryside hotel and the only 4 star resort in South Iceland. It offers all the facilities and services of a modern resort. Located about an hour from Reykjavík between the towns of Hella and Hvolsvöllur, it lies just off the main road right in middle of South Iceland’s panoramic scenery. The resort is built in log-cabin style and has through the years acquired an excellent reputation for its food, accomodation and service. It is the first Icelandic hotel to become a member of the prestigious international hotel chain Great Hotels of the World. A celebrity hot spot, top honeymoon destination and favorite hotel amongst Icelanders, Hotel Rangá also offers great facilities for small business meetings, weddings and social gatherings. One cannot miss feeling welcome entering its warm interior where relaxed countryside feeling meets the professional ambition of pleasing its entire clientel. Upon entering Hotel Ranga, you will be greeted by a towering 10-foot tall polar bear named Hrammur that resides in the lobby. He is a favorite model for photographers and is definitely one of the most pictured objects in Iceland. This is just a prelude to the cozy ambience that you will encounter that vibrates throughout the hotel. Hótel Rangá was upgraded and renovated in 2007/2008 and presently has 51 luxuriously decorated rooms and suites. It also features an acclaimed riverside restaurant, a lounge and bar, 2 upstairs meeting rooms, a game room, massage facilities and three much beloved outdoor hot tubs heated with geothermal water - where there is an excellent chance to view the fantastic northern lights during September through April. ... more   less
