For the cost of staying here, you get a bare-bones room (no coffee maker, no microwave, hair dryer didn't work), horrible customer service (we had to ask 4 times for a roll-out bed), and then we were charged - without notice - for the roll-out bed. Unreal. The next time I'm in Boston, I will save $700 and sleep in my car. I cannot, for the life of me, understand how this place is rated 4 stars. It's 1 star, at best.

Hotel's Favourite
We arrived in Boston on a Sunday around 12:30pm after a 3 hour drive...My wife called the hotel and asked if we could get an early check-in...Woody told her yes, and upon arrival he couldn't have been any nicer...My wife asked if there was any way we could get a room with a view as it's been a while since we were able to escape from the kids for a few days and Woody put us on the top floor with a view of the canal !!! Since the nearest subway stop was approx 10 mins away we walked to and from Faneuil Hall / Boston Common each day (about 25 mins each way) along side the Charles River...Wonderfully scenic and peaceful walk. It was also nice having the Cambridgeside mall connected to the hotel. The self parking fee of $30 kinds of sucks, but when you go to a major city that's actually not too high compared to others, and since I'm not a fan of waiting / tipping for my vehicle every time I want to leave the hotel it was a great option to have...The parking was a bit confusing when we first arrived, but after the first day it was easy to figure out after familiarizing ourselves with the layout. My wife pointed out, and I have to agree, that this was the cleanest hotel room we could recall staying in. If we went back to the area we'd certainly stay here again.

The hotel is pretty barebones, which is surprising given how expensive it is. The people that run it don’t seem to understand the basic needs of guests. Even little details like being able to buy a postage stamp or some pain relievers elude them; they have nothing. You’re stuck in a location close to … nothing with … nothing but an okay restaurant and $8 water. Not worth the money, and not coming back.

We want to applaud Lucas, assistant manager-in-training! We also take our hats off to Ben at wine hour, and the doorman for warm daily greetings during our Nov. stay. We made a complicated request to change to a 2-bed room for one night so that our son who recently moved for his first job, could maximize time with us for an early 'holiday'. Lucas managed our 4-nights-stay with smooth room changes back to the single room. Also, the National Football Saturday wine time was a hoot, with Ben and managers setting up football iced cookies, Kimpton's signature wine time outdoors with a Nerf throw - we were pleased to win more IHG Kimpton stay points. As we took a touring break to sit in the courtyard on a Saturday afternoon, three brides exited the hotel to take photos by a scenic canal. The Marlowe's location was between 2 subway lines (the 1km walk to Kenmore subway takes one past gourmet cafes and ice cream), and to the Science Center. Crossing the Charles River connected to riverfront walkways. Sunday brought half-marathon crowds to the adjacent mall; we took coffees to go from the lobby and watched the runners finish. The Hug a Bear morning with gummy bear snacks added a home-y touch. Bambara breakfasts were fresh, hot and with elevated quality ingredients. We've stayed at many Kimptons coast to coast and also in London (Fitzroy) - Marlowe is ideal in that it has stylish lounge nooks outdoors and inside, plentiful re-charging outlets in rooms and main lounge, and has indoor walkways to CambridgeSide mall in inclement weather. Thanks, Kimpton Marlowe!

We had a family gathering at Kimpton Marlowe in Cambridge for my daughter's wedding and out of town guests reserved about 40 rooms. We heard nothing but praises for the staff, the professional attitudes, and friendly courtesy throughout our four day stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. As mother of the bride, I had many details to care for the coming guests: welcome bags, elderly couples who needed ADA rooms, Sunday brunch details at the hotel, as well as all the family meeting in a large lobby area Friday night. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food delicious, and the amenities of complimentary coffee in the lobby and 5 PM wine hour was enjoyed by many of our family and friends. The entire weekend went as planned thanks to the courteous staff at the hotel. I especially appreciate all the help from Steven, Teddy, Akilue, Mesale and Elijah. The entire team was always very helpful and cheerful.

No coffee. No tea. When is Kimpton going to get on board with the rest of the hotel universe? No coffee or tea in the room. We go down to the lobby, and they’re out of both coffee and tea, and there’s a line of people waiting. Is this just an inconvenience? Sure. But we would have stayed in bed on Sunday morning if we had our morning beverages to sip. Instead, we have to get up and get dressed so we can greet all of the other annoyed guests in the lobby. Come on Kimpton. The hotel is nice. Your guests aren’t going to steal the coffee makers. Provide the luxury you do in every other instance. We’d rather have a keurig than a yoga mat.

Stayed here for two nights recently. The room was modern and clean. The bed was comfortable the room was spacious. The rooms have been upgraded. I stayed in a king room. The bathroom had a stall shower. Modern fixtures and lighting. Large 50 inch TV with apps so you could use your own Netflix. The room was very nice. we eat in the restaurant for breakfast as well. And at night we use the bar facilities. $30 self park in the garage. We use the gym, which has a Hydrow rowing machine. The hotel is near the river where you can go for a walk and we Uber to the town center

We used to love this hotel and came here every year for a 3-day stay each Thanksgiving. Before Covid, we used to pay around $250 -$300/night for a regular small-ish room. We never complained because we loved the hotel. It was charming and everyone was always so helpful with anything you needed or any questions you had. Fast forward to last week. We had an engagement party in Cambridge, so I booked a room for my husband and I, and my daughter and her husband. The same regular small room now costs $575/night. I thought that was a bit steep, but learned when we got there that it was The Head of the Charles Regatta weekend and that's why the price was so high. Again, I didn't mind paying because of the event. And I'm sure because it was a busy week-end, everything took so long. We waited a very long time to check in, to check out and to get our car from valet. They apparently didn't have enough staff to assist the amount of people that were at the hotel. Apparently, the Kimpton Marlowe has been renovated since we were last there before Covid. They did an OK job. It was in really good shape before but I guess they wanted a more updated theme. Now, the rooms are very dark and the bathrooms are dark as well. My one pet peeve was that for $575/night, I couldn't see in the mirror to put on my make-up to attend the party! And there wasn't enough light in the room to use the main mirror either. Also, there was nowhere to put any of our clothes in case we needed to unpack. As it was, it was just an overnight trip, but as I mentioned, we usually stay 3 days. I'm sorry to say, that we won't be coming back after all these years. I know it's a small problem and I don't like to complain, especially with what's going on these days, but I figured I'd mention it in case issues like these are important to others who are thinking about staying here.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm so sorry you didn't like the renovation updates that were made. Generally speaking, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Our rates do fluctuate depending on time of year and yes this past weekend was a very busy one in the city but your feedback is truly appreciated. Like everyone else, find staffing continues to be a challenge for us and for the most part it is ok but when we have an extremely busy weekend like this past one, there are times where the waits can exceed normal levels. We are working diligently to correct this and thank you for your patience.

Second time I’ve stayed at this hotel. Rooms are modern and clean The mattresses could be firmer and doors and hallways are beginning to show wear. However despite getting breakfast included I’d pay to eat elsewhere. Coffee took 45 minutes to come and food was mediocre both times. There is not enough staff and those there cannot keep up with the guests. This is an American Express Hotel Collection property. It should not be. IHG needs to do better at this level of rate.

Wi-Fi is useless at this place. You technically get free WiFi but it can’t do more than slowly download your emails. If you want to do any decent web browsing, be ready to wait. And forget about video calls. Just embarrassing to have such slow WiFi in this day & age. If you don’t really need WiFi, then it’s fine. Bathrooms have a weird ammonia smell on arrival - they must be using some weird cleaning agent.

I'm so sorry about this, Wifi performance is typically not an issue for us as we have almost a GB of bandwidth so this must have been an isolated incident. We regularly have meetings/events with video conferencing and streaming and never have issues. I'll have our IT folks look into the specifics of when you were here.
