The Kimpton Marlowe Hotel is one of the best hotels in the country.....and, this statement is coming from a retired hotel exec, who knows quality hotel service. The first word is friendliness; from the doorman to the front desk, from the housekeeper to the service help in the restaurant.......all extremely friendly & helpful. In addition, the hotel was immaculate & everything worked, which I can not say about most hotels. The guest room was large & the shower jet perfect. We have stayed at this hotel for many years but it has never been better. The restaurant is a MUST for exceptional quality & service. If you need a hotel in Boston or Cambridge, this is the only hotel to stay with. It is only extremely convenient to Boston & all its important sights.

I was in Cambridge for 2 1/2 weeks on business and had a lovely stay at Kimpton Marlowe. All staff and leaders were guest-centric. The rooms were cleaned and freshened up every day; the location is ideal, veru close to Charles River where one can walk across enjoy the sunset or dusk. The bar/eatery at the hotel, Bambara, is very nice too with great drinks and a tasty menu, and Kelly does a great job.

Kudos to Burak, the Director of Sales, Jessica, Sophie, Heidi, Khalid and Paige on makng my stay so wonderful. I'd love to go back there!

I stayed here for 6 nights in late June. The hotel is in a great location across from the Charles River and adjacent to a shopping mall. You're also a 5 minute walk to the Museum of Science and a 10-15 minute walk to the Esplanade by the river. I stayed in a king suite (room # 820 - top floor). Large, spacious, comfortable and very clean. The staff was cordial and professional. The bathroom was large and well-supplied and featured possibly the largest hotel room shower that I've ever been in. Two people would have plenty of room in this shower. I had breakfast twice and one dinner at Bambara restaurant and enjoyed the food and service very much.
I didn't give it 5 stars because of the $22/ night amenities charge that they add to your bill when checking in. I didn't use the hotel website when booking the room and missed that particular charge. I was exhausted when checking in and wanted to hit the bed, so I accepted it, but it sort of stuck in my craw during my stay. Also, I was told that my invoice would be emailed to me. After 3 days, I emailed the hotel chain requesting a copy and still haven't received it (6 days later). Nice place, if a bit pricey.

The Hotel Marlowe faces the Charles River, is an easy walk to Kendall Square, MIT and is a favorite hotel of mine in the Boston area. It’s an easy walk over the bridge, past the Science Museum and you will. be in Boston in 15 minutes walking time. I love the outdoor drop off area and gathering space, the Kimpton Marlowe offers bikes for an early morning ride or kayaks if you want to try your hand at a water adventure. the rooms are well done, the suites have a great size bathroom, shower and tub space, it’s always quiet, the staff is friendly, efficient and if you are an IHG member you will probably be bumped up to a nicer room. The parking garage is easily accessible and offers reasonable parking rate if you stay at the hotel ($30). I have stayed at many Boston Hotels but the Kimpton Marlowe is my favorite. Easy to walk to Fuji Restaurant, EVOO and Tatte Bakery. My bed was super comfortable this last visit and I also had a very cool and enjoyable view of the bridge at night.

Kimpton Marlowe Hotel has spacious, updated, & clean rooms. The rooms have one or two beds with ample space to relax. We stayed for six nights with two kids w/out any issue about space. Bathrooms are nice. So are the cabinets with enough useful space.
The location close proximity to a mall, museum of Science, & most of all Charles River makes it ideal for guests who enjoy shopping, visiting, walking, running, kayaking or biking along the trail by the river. They also have complementary bikes & Kayaks . Hats off to Jessica for her helpful & welcoming gesture. She made our vacation experience unbelievable with an upgrade that gave us a view of Boston skyline from our room. The hotel’s restaurant, Bambara, has good food with $10 daily food and beverage credit.
Throughout our stay, Aklilu & Tedi, who are always by the door, are very friendly who go out of their way to help. Monte, who I found him to be precise on what he does, is also helpful and welcoming - a good fit for the job.

The Kimpton Marlowe is a contributor to the No Kid Hungry charity organization and a weekend at the hotel was part of an auction package that I won. I'm so glad that it was, because it was a wonderful place to stay in Boston! The hotel decor was lovely, it was very clean (common areas, hotel room, etc), quiet, and the staff were very friendly.
The service was very prompt when we asked for help with something in our room.
The location along the St Charles River was great and we were able to walk to many places in Boston.
We ate at Bambara for dinner one night - definitely go and enjoy the pork buns and the chicken wings - they were amazing.
We would stay here again if we come back to Boston!

I stayed for 25 nights in May and would like to celebrate the efforts of the team.

Call me old fashioned...I like the idea of staying at a property that offers a sense of hospitality. The morning smiles and openness to have random chit-chat made the stay great.  The property is clean, well designed, and by assuming the team is always coming from a positive place to help, you will likely enjoy this property.

My stay started when I called and spoke to Burak back in April. He patiently answered all my questions and provided good options to consider. I booked and then got to know the day staff of Monty, Elina, and Woody. Each of them was always welcoming and took time to give attention to my dog Samson.

I got to know the overnight team of Shawn and Ashley when I woke up each morning to take the pup out. Both of them were always warm despite having been awake for many hours and about to end their days.

Cleanliness is super important to me and the housekeeping staff of Nelly, Fernando, and Papa took great care of my room and were always dusting the nooks and crannies of the public spaces.

Aklilu and Brendan are the eyes and ears of the entryway and always offered good advice and tips. And I want to call out the efforts the facilities team of Tom and Mike put in to keep things humming during the month I was there.

Lauren the manager was always available to assist anything I could throw her way. :)

Most importantly, the real leader of this team is Annie. Annie is a young golden-doodle puppy who has two beds behind the front desk. She always got up to be pet and/or receive a treat. She made her back always available for attention. Though she is a little bit of a micro manager since she would watch us through the window when we left the property. Or she was just saying goodbye.

Wanted to call out that the entire team makes this a great property.

We were welcomed warmly by Monty on reception and quickly checked in. The room was beautifully appointed, exceptionally clean and quiet. The bathroom was very pleasing to the eye and had good mirror lighting and some subdued lighting for night time. Beds were comfortable.

The hotel did have coffee in reception in the morning and a wine hour (free glass of wine) in the evening. A nice touch.

We are not dog owners but I do love dogs, which is fortunate as there were many dogs staying here. If you don’t like dogs this is not your place. All dogs that we saw were well behaved.

The bus stop at Lechmere is a 10 minute walk away.

All staff that we encountered at this property were very pleasant. We would absolutely stay here again if in the Boston area.

Average hotel that has criminally slow/spotty wifi for any business or academic traveler. No Zoom calls or online lectures were possible to give because the wifi network is totally unreliable: not only weak, but subject to just shutting down for periods long enough to cut a connection. This is unacceptable in 2023, when the world has adapted to remote work, remote meetings, remote life. The hotel is also terribly understaffed, breakfast in the hotel was exceptionally slow because they had a grand total of one person handling all tables at the rush hour of 7:30-8am. Again... 2021-22 was when work shortages were a fashionable excuse. Furthermore the location isn't that great: 2/3s of Uber/Lyft drivers struggle to find the driveway leaving you to run after them when they stop in the wrong place. It's next to a dying mall that has nothing but awful mall food "and a Cheesecake Factory" as though that's of any value to people who want a quick, healthy option (or, you know, have taste in food). Booking this hotel was one of the biggest mistakes I've made. The office chair was uncomfortable for no apparent reason other than aesthetic choice. I simply do not recommend for business, academic work, or anything other than the undemanding guest.

Second time I’ve stayed at this hotel. Rooms are modern and clean
The mattresses could be firmer and doors and hallways are beginning to show wear. However despite getting breakfast included I’d pay to eat elsewhere. Coffee took 45 minutes to come and food was mediocre both times. There is not enough staff and those there cannot keep up with the guests. This is an American Express Hotel Collection property. It should not be. IHG needs to do better at this level of rate.

Hi is there a laundry service at this hotel ?
Answer from Margaret A
1 contribution
There is no laundry service as this is more of a traditional boutique hotel than an extended stay hotel. But the front desk staff can answer this question for certain. Over 3 stays in the past year, I've observed service workers bring out to the courtyard bed linens and towels to be washed off premises.
