I read on the website that indeed parking was limited and one may be directed to an offsite lot. What they don't make known is that while the hotel has approximately 112 rooms, there are only about 30 on-site parking spots. The offsite lot they direct you to is a mile away, there are only 5 or 6 spots in that lot (I'm not sure what happens if you get there and that's full), and I did not feel safe on the walk back to the hotel. I don't know what I would have done if I was alone. The streets were dark, with broken sidewalks and asphalt, where I almost fell a few times and in general, the neighborhood has a very unsafe feel when walking. The fan in the room was also very noisy and the windows must be paper thin because even though we were on the 7th floor, I could hear street traffic. It is renovated so the bathrooms are updated with full sized walk in showers, but there is really no water pressure. Someone may as well be holding a watering can over your head. I'm a big fan of Holiday Inn Express hotels, but I won't be staying here again.…
Although not a luxury hotel, Holiday Inn Express Boston-Cambridge delivers an excellent stay for its customers. We stayed there for a week during our daughter's spine surgery which was extremely stressful times for us. This hotel was the absolute positive of the week. The breakfast buffet is excellent that included a pancake maker, 3-4 hot plates with eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes; fridge stacked with milk and yogurt, multiple cereal offerings, jams and even Nutella! Hotel is extremely clean, spacious rooms, super friendly staff AND they provided transportation to the hospital and back. There was a huge tv in the room, a mini bar, coffee maker, ice machine in the hallway, nice size and clean bathroom with multiple sets of towels. They were nice enough to hold our luggage after checkout. There is also a little shop with snacks and accessories. Hotel is quiet. Although seemed to be situated on an avenue, no noise from outside. Nice thick curtains to block the light from outside. We applaud the management for their dedication to excellent service and going above and beyond for the satisfaction of their customers. We will stay there again when we go back for our follow up. I recommend this hotel without a single doubt! Thank you…
I had a prepaid reservation and booked a night in this hotel last weekend. I have two city government issued picture ID cards and the hotel refused to accept either of them as "valid ID" and therefore would not let me check in. There was no mention on their confirmation that only a "driver's license or passport" would be acceptable, and I considered what I had to be "valid" (my bank accepts my work ID all the time). I found myself without a place to stay after having traveled 5 hours to get to Cambridge, and with no way home scheduled until the following day. The desk staff was unsympathetic, and management at the hotel has not been much better. I cannot recommend.
Excellent value for money, especially in Cambridge. Rooms are clean and good. I slept like a baby, no neighbours or traffic noise (despite being close to a busy street), breakfast was basic but good. I‘ve stayed in far worse hotels for far higher prices. I will be back.
Don’t let the view fool you, this place is a great value for Boston. Clean modern rooms, friendly staff, and significantly cheaper than other brand hotels in the area. It’s a great room in general, but a phenomenal room for the price. It is right in the edge of where Cambridge turns industrial so the neighborhood looks sketchy, but I assure it is not. I walked to and from my work on Main Street daily, with no issues. My only complaints is that it’s just far enough off the beaten path that Uber Eats can be a bit unreliable, and they may have the slowest elevator I’ve seen in the wild. It’s not as centrally located as some hotels, but for the cost savings you can afford the $10 Uber to get to downtown Boston or Cambridge.
The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The location was good, the service was friendly and helpful. I was probably in a not- renovated floor because the tap of the shower came off at every shower. Also the water pressure was far from ideal. The bathroom was dirty. The number of hangers was insufficient. The curtains were very very dirty. I would have loved to open the windows but it was impossible. The breakfast was ok but the choice pretty limited
Had a wonderful stay at this location! Room was very spacious, clean and all amenities were just what was needed. From efficient check/in with Deyli, to checkout, everything was just what we hoped it what be.
The room of your average Holiday Inn. Scary and slow elevators. A sub average breakfast. And an inflated price like everywhere in Boston. Public transportation is available within a 5 minute walk. The area can be a bit intimidating at first but, after having been out a few times, it seems nothing shady is going on.
Overall, we liked this hotel. Check in was quick and they were very welcoming. Room was clean, blackout curtains work really well, and the location was good especially if you need the T. it is a 5 minute walk from the hotel to Lechmere on the green line. The Lechmere station does not have turnstiles so you need to validate your ticket at the ticket machine. We were only there for a weekend (Fri - Sun) so we got a 1 day T ticket and were able to get everyplace we wanted to. Tip: When going back to hotel, take the train that goes to Union Square. There are not many places to get a bite to eat near the hotel but if you take the T, it's not an issue at all. Breakfast was standard and was fine. My only complaint about the breakfast is that they do not have decaf coffee. Probably not enough of a demand. The only thing I did not like with the hotel is that they did not advise us that they do not clean the room daily. I know that since COVID many hotels do not do daily housekeeping but normally I have also been advised of this when I have checked into hotels. It wasn't a problem that the room wasn't cleaned but it would have been nice if we had been advised. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you need to be in Cambridge.…
The manager Brian was great! I was treated with respect and the hotel staff was friendly and customer service oriented. The room felt like an apartment! Plenty of room and well appointed. Great hot breakfast and loved the pancake machine! I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!
