We had a group dinner here. The food was outstanding. Fresh and Plentiful. It was a true Italy experience. Pablo the owner and I think at least the 6th generation was there, as was his son, and his little grandchildren. "Alba" the cook prepared a meal for kings. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I would go back again in a heartbeat and will tell everyone they should eat here. We didn't stay there overnite, but I would have!
This beautifully renovated agriturismo is a friendly, family-run B&B just outside the wonderful town of Montefalco. We enjoyed an overnight here, and had a quaint, nicely appointed room that featured furniture fashioned out of wine casks! Upon arrival, we were greeted by the retired dad of the family, who gave us a tour of the entire agriturismo, which has half a dozen or so rooms, and lots of sitting room space as well. This is the house where he was born and grew up. We also headed to the cantina, where he offered us an impromptu wine tasting. We enjoyed talking with him, and later meeting other members of the family (including the 3 year old careening around the driveway in his electric car!). Breakfast was a nice continental buffet, and we chatted with other guests. We especially admired the attention to detail and care that has gone into renovating this B&B. The younger generation now taking over the management and marketing is creative and dedicated. Highly recommend Il Borghetto. We spent 75 euros and will definitely return in the future.…
The rooms were very nice (the bed was a little hard, but that seemed standard everywhere we stayed) and the air conditioning kept us comfortable. The best was interacting with the family that owns the place and Alba, the chef. Breakfast was always good and it is definitely worth having dinner at least once. Our group of six had a wonderful experience with food straight from their farm. There were 14 different food items and multiple bottles of wine we shared and for my wife and I it was only 58 Euros. For what we got it was an incredible value. Agriturismo il Borghetto was a great home base for us to visit a number of beautiful nearby towns.
For several years we've been returning to Ugo's little garden of Eden. It's one of those places where one doesn't need all that luxury. Sure, we take a good kitchen knife with us, a good sommelier to open the daily bottle of wine, but that's because we return to a place we love. Ugo (and family) maintain the domain to a very high standard, considering the hard times in Italy. The reception's always heart warming, and one always feels welcome. Next to that, there's the exquisite location. Close enough to beautiful Todi (with all shops one needs), a good walk from the cosy little bird's nest called Ilci, with a fab restaurant, and within driving distance of all the magnificence gorgeous Umbria has to offer. So, yes... we will happily return, for many years to come.
We enjoyed a truly unforgettable group dinner at Il Borghetto: a tour of the grounds, olive trees and grape vines, a taste of the owner's house white wine, straight from the tap, and a delicious dinner, reminiscent of The Big Night. The plates of family style food kept coming out and each one was better than the next. Everything felt warm and authentic and magical. I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to visit this family and spend time in their home.
