This B&B is unbelievably well located: in the middle of the wine and olive trees fields and offering breathtaking views on small, medieval towns lying on top of the Umbrian hills. My wife and I stayed five nights at this B&B. We were lodged in a dependance in front of the main building. Our 'room' appeared to be a three-room vacation house, consisting of a large bedroom and a separate kitchen and bathroom. Our room was pleasantly cool, even during the pretty hot August summer days. We were happy to find out that each window had a mosquito screen, which is very welcome in the Umbrian countryside. Carla told me the B&B offers 8 rooms, housed in three separate buildings. (Not sure whether the building at the end of the garden was operational, since some construction works were currently going on there). There's a plenty of parking space for your car. Breakfast is offered on two large tables in the garden in front of the main building. This makes that guests are mingling up during breakfasts, which very quickly creates a feeling of 'one big family' in the B&B. Upon arrival (on Sunday) Carla invited us for a (free!) barbecue with the other guests. It was great to dine and wine with the other Italian guests during our first evening. In fact, Carla is an unbelievable host and great entertainer! No question is asked too much for her; always ready to assist you with advice on places and restaurants to visit, where you can get the best olive oil or wine; a quick Limoncello before you go to sleep when you return from a dinner. She even made coffee and offered drinks when all guests were sitting together outside in the middle of the night when we faced the Aug. 24 earthquake! Carla's great hospitality deserves a five (or even six!) TripAdvisor star rating. Philippe, Carla's French husband brings the artistic flavour to your stay (brought with a lot of humour), the dog and many cats and kittens make the family feeling complete. Our room was pretty basic, typically vacation-house style, but very convenient for making your multi-day stay pleasant (large cupboard for your clothes, table, lots of books, flatscreenTV). The bathroom is well-equipped, but may need an upgrade (esp. the small shower cabin). Wifi was unfortunately not working well in our room, but worked perfectly in the garden. In contradiction to quite some other reviews, I was not blown away by the breakfasts. Although the own-made pies were gorgeous, I missed some bread and cheese at breakfast. So, if you're looking for an elegantly designed bed- and bathroom, with a super breakfast, you may be a bit disappointed. On the other hand, if you're looking for an opportunity to mingle up with the other guests and experience genuine Italian evenings, entertained by Carla and her great stories, you will adore this place! With a price of only €60/night, the B&B has an exceptionally good price-quality ratio! So, great value for the money. Great B&B!

I have now stayed at San Marco twice with my family, and it has become a must-visit for any trip to Italy. I went with my partner, my father, my brother and my sister-in-law, and we all loved our time there. Carla and her family are impeccable hosts: the rooms are cozy and clean, the food is astounding, and the conversation at meals is always free-flowing and memorable. The guests are from all over the world and are always friendly and interesting people. The B&B itself is the definition of charming: the views are dream-like, and kittens, a dog (Bagheera) and chickens coexist in a surprisingly peaceful state as they wander around the grounds. It's also right near a number of lovely small towns, as well as Assisi, which is definitely worth a visit. I have spent a fair amount of time in Italy and have seen more than my fair share of B&B's, and San Marco is far and away the best. I will most definitely be back.

Carla is a wonderful hostess, she CARES for her guests in all senses of the word. We felt at home from the first second we arrived and were invited to see the newborn kittens. The rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped. The grounds are inviting. Then, there is Carla... what a lovely, warm and charming lady. She took such great care of us - from finding us a doctor - actually 2, 1 for people and 1 for a computer, asking us what we would like for breakfast and preparing wonderful surprises. In short, visit B&B San Marco - you can't go wrong.

We stayed one night. We were welcomed by the landlady and her son and gives coffees in the garden. Our room was spacious with a lovely big and comfortable bed, the window overlooking feilds. We had a decent breakfast in the garden, sharing the table with half-a-dozen Italians. We paid 65 Euros for the two of us.

Time stops here at the San Marco B&B. The sun rises to the alarm of the rooster and the song of the birds chirping their good morning song. Meanwhile Philippe waters the plants and Carla prepares her delicious breakfast meals. We are surrounded by endless fields of sunflowers, vineyards, wheat pastures that stretch with the rolling hills into the horizon. It's an artist haven free to taste the fruit of dreams with hammocks on one side and the company of musician Nicola who welcomes musical expression. (Nicola speaks clear English too which is very nice). In the afternoons one can drift into the fields, lay by a hammock, take a nap under the sun, free to write, read, sing, paint -express without distraction. Evenings, typically entail a delicious authentic Italian dinner with bottomless wine, good company and good conversation to no end. Typically, Carla or Nicola would invite artist friends to the B&B. Often we were blessed with the great company and soul of Nicola's girlfriend Merica. We would also meet local Italian natives from nearby towns of the B&B. You would have an incredible stay here! Clean and comfortable, accommodating and familial and you would walk away with a true authentic Italian experience. By the way, the table wine is delicious! I highly recommend this place!
