SUBRETIA Country Resort Subretia project has been created in the wine producing area of Montefalco by Tenuta Rocca di Fabbri winery. Though this project, Simona and Roberta Vitali, passionately involved for years in the production of fine wines and in the enhancement of the territory, want the culture of wine to meet the culture of hospitality, creating a new concept of tourism. The concept that gives birth to Subretia project is not only the enhancement of Montefalco territory, but the attempt to realize the interaction of environment, tourism and wine culture. Subretia is composed of 18 restored and frescoed apartments. The entrance is just a few metres from the winery. From there, you can enjoy a wonderful view on the surrounding hills and on the mountains near Trevi, that frame the wide garden area. Subretia is a journey inside the journey. Through the frescoes of the apartments you will symbolically experience again the journeys of your memory, and time will acquire a magical dimension. The apartment, standard suite ( 25 to 40 mq) , superior suite ( 41 to 60 mq) are fully equipped kitchen, sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, satellite tv, safe, telephone, sheets and bath towels. The swimming pool is placed amid Subretia. It is a shaped as a lotus flower and supplied with a Jacuzzi and a fountain in the centre that enhance the charming view of the rolling hills of Umbria. The terrace around the swimming pool is provided with a solarium. An ideal place to relax and enjoy the sun. In the evening, the solarium is the ideal place to enjoy sunset and the lights of the night. Subretia is placed inside a large park with garden, its paths are framed by trees and bushes of local flora. Water lilies, pergolas, cypresses, brooms accompany the guests to the discovery of many magical places where you can relax. At the centre of Subretia, and near the swimming pool, a coffee bar to enjoy delicious light refreshments, coffee, breakfast and wines. Subretia organizes for the guests visit to the vineyards and cellars of Tenuta Rocca di Fabbri winery, followed by a tasting of Montefalco wines. A nice opportunity to enjoy the tradition of wine making and the tradition of hospitality.

We just spent 2 weeks at Subretia. It was a wonderful experience. The villa manager Elisa is a shining pearl, and the entire place is perfect for relaxing days in beautiful Umbria. Rooms are nice and clean, perfect bathroom with tub, small kitchen with all you need to cook small dinners. And wineglasses. Nearby towns Montefalco, Trevi and several others had all you could wish for in restaurants, scenic views, wine shops etc. There could be some noise from cars at night, (nearby village-festival when we were there). There is a small grocery store around the corner from Subretia, and big supermarket just uphill in Montefalco (4-5 minutes by car) Nice breakfast room with a little bit of everything buffet, and fresh coffee/espresso/cappuccino/caffelatte made by Elisa. We brought our 2 year old son, and he also loved everything about Subretia. Nice clean pool including a part of the pool reserved for small children. Subretia was connected to a winefarm and they made a little tour around the plant with tasting of their good wine. Will for sure go back. "Larsen", Denmark

My husband and I recently stayed at the Villa Subretia for 2 days from the 26th May. It was easy to get to as its just 5 mins off from the highway. Elisa, the villa manager gave us a warm welcome and and as it was still the low season, she gave us a choice of 3 different suites with different themes. The rooms were spacious, clean and it had a wonderful bed and crispy clean sheets. There was a kitchenette with all the basic equipment for a simple meal, which was important to us. Fantastic to buy the local fresh produce and prepare a simple meal and save us the trouble of going out for meals all the time. It was too cold to swim in the cross shaped pool, but the views were amazing and we spent a lazy afternoon reading by the poolside. If you have the time, you can request for a tour around the vineyard and taste the wines and olive oil produced by the owner. The vino Rosso was one of the better ones I tasted in that region and at amazing value. Elisa recommended a resto in the nearby town Montefalco, Restaurant 'Il Coccorone' that was an exellent choice for a night out. All in all, it was a great experience and I would love to try sleeping in the different suites and look at the beautiful frescos from the walls to the ceiling. Makes me wish I can find the artist to paint it in my house!

We stayed here for 2 nights. Accommodation was a bit strange but OK, pool and garden smaller than they appeared on the web, and a bit tatty, but the views to Trevi were excellent. Breakfast was not available as the fridge was broken, so we were given a tray with 4 sachets of dry toast, a carton of long life milk, a carton of red! orange juice, assorted nasty teabags, a tupperware box of ground coffee and 4 minipots of jam. That turned out to be 2 days breakfast for 2 people. But heigh -ho, we were in holiday spirits and nothing was going to spoil our mood. Nothing that is apart from Simona. We met Simona the next day. She is the owner. She wanted me to pay 140 Euros which she claimed was what her bank had charged her for handling a cheque for 85 Euros that I had sent her several months earlier as a deposit. (Be warned she doesn't take any cards). I refused, suggesting she needed to sort it out with her bank. She got really cross, shouting 'You are a dishonest person' and more unpleasant things I won't repeat. This place isn't cheap (285 Euros for 2 nights in a Standard Suite) and there are plent of other places to stay nearby, so I would not recommend Subretia to anybody until Simona sells it.
