Montajaque is a small village with 2 little supermarkets and 4 small bars. The village is right in the center to visit Sevilla (1.5 hours), the white villages, the coast and even Alhambra (2.5 hours).
Casas de Montajaque has about 10 little houses and a...More
It’s a great place! Isabelle is a great host, she picked us up late in the evening and arranged some roses for our wedding anniversary. She was always available when needed via whatsapp. I really recommand Casas de Montejaque!!
We stayed at Case de Montejaque for a week at the end of August 2017. Casas de Montejaque own both a selection of flats at a central location based around a swimming pool, and houses scattered throughout the village. We stayed in one of the...More
These apartments are situated not far from the village square in an ideal location. Close enough to restaurants, bars, supermarkets, bank and bakers yet far enough to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. When we arrived we were greeted by Abigail who offered us the choice...More
Had a lovely week in here! Stayed at the "la abuelo" house, which has 2 double bedrooms (on 1st - double bed and 2nd floor - two single beds) and a small single room (1st floor). There was a 3 piece bathroom with a small...More

There are lots of car rentals at the airport. We used inter rentals and booked in advance. Had a long wait at the check in desk. Booked the smallest car which they wanted to upgrade because of the hills to montajaque. We just told them we were taking the coastal road and they left us alone and stopped trying to push. Car had a full tank at no extra cost and we just put in what we used. Be wary as some car companies charge premium rates for the first tank. Also it wasn't actually as hilly as we thought. Take photos of every mark on the car both inside and out as your evidence. We made sure we had dates on the photos and took pictures of the car upon return as well. As soon as we had our final confirmation we just deleted them.
Word of warning ... if you have never driven abroad try and take a good satnav to follow. Coming out of the airport and finding the right direction out of the city is no fun without help. Coming back is really easy though.
There are no buses from the airport and a taxi will set you back upwards of €130 one way. There is one bus a day that goes from montajaque to Ronda. It leaves at 9am and returns at 12pm. Also no trains! To see the best of the area I would say a car is the way.
Word of warning no 2 ... Some of the streets in the village are very narrow including the one that houses the hotel. My advice is when you see the sign for the hotel with an arrow pointing to the street on the left park up and walk to the hotel. It isn't far and you'd probably thank me for it lol. Sorry if ive waffled on. From one Ullian to another I'd be appy to answer any more questions

Sorry. Just saw your question. I hope it's not too late. It's about 1h 30min from the Malaga airport. You absolutely need a rental car if you want to explore the area. If you want to stay in the village, you can find everything you need in there, but all other interesting places are about 30 min drive.
