El Gecko is a small boutique hotel located in the village of Canada del Real Tesoro. This is where the railway line for the village of Cortes de la Frontera is located on the Algeciras/Granada rail line. The whole area is spectacularly beautiful and rugged, and the hotel a perfect gateway to so many places to visit either by car...

We were apprehensive about staying here as we only had 1 other TA review to go on, so we only booked one night. We needn't have worried at all. Sarah and Greg are excellent hosts and it felt more like staying with friends than in a hotel. On arrival, we had a light lunch on the terrace before spending the...

Not the first time we've been to Cortes - but our first stay in El Gecko, and we were the very first guests to stay in the newly refurbished hotel with its lovely hosts, Sarah and Greg. It's a true gem of a place, tucked away in the most magical part of Spain that you can't quite believe you've stumbled...

We stayed here on the second night of our six day walking holiday and were given a very friendly welcome from the British hosts. We ate dinner in the hotel and had a very good value meal followed the next morning by a typical Spanish breakfast. The room was overlooking the street and not large with a very small bathroom...

We stayed here last year and very much enjoyed it. The service was friendly and not overwhelming. The location is a 3 or 4 minute walk from the local train station where you can get direct connections to Rhonda (a must see). We ate in the B&B one night and found the food to be the best we'd had during...

We have just got back from 4 nights in el gecko in Cortes. This tiny boutique hotel (5 bedrooms) once again exceeded our expectations. New (to us) owners Will & Max couldn't have done more for us. We really feel we have gained a couple of friends. The hotel is 3 town houses converted in to a hotel. It backs...

Stayed here for a wonderful week during a painting holiday. The hosts, room, hotel, food and ambience were great. Bill and Maxine made me very welcome. I had the swimming pool to myself every morning. The landscape and countryside are outstanding. Easily accessible by road and railway. I hope to come back.
