This hotel is having some problems. I stayed here on business in July 2022 for Americasmart. The location is perfect for my semi-annual trip to Atlanta. I didn't have any complaints from my stay in July so I decided to stay again in January 2023. From the moment I arrived at the front desk, and waited (and waited) to be acknowledged by the only employee on duty (she was on the phone). She didn't even look at me and give me the virtual signal, "sorry, just a minute". She finally hung up the phone and it took at least 15 minutes to check me in. This was at 3:00 pm. Prime check-in time. I thought a hotel was in the hospitality industry but it seemed like I was a complete surprise and they were not prepared for guests. The next morning, there was no hot water at 7:00 am. This was going to be a long 3 days if this trend continued. Thankfully, that was the only morning I did not have hot water. Breakfast was another issue. The menu is well-curated with good hot options and a variety of cold options too, if they are well-stocked. The refrigerator appeared as if the truck didn't show, or someone forgot to reorder the inventory. One morning, there was no one to take our breakfast order, at 7:30 am. When I have a long day of work ahead with no guarantee I will be able to eat lunch, breakfast is important. Finally someone arrived to take our orders and the lights were turned on in the kitchen. My room was never serviced. I finally wrote a note and left it at the front desk (because there was always a line of people) that I would like my room serviced. I arrived back in my room at 6pm. Housekeeping had left fresh towels and emptied the trash, but didn't make my bed. I'll let that go, but I did think it was customary to make beds as well. When I checked out, the staff member said I was all set. I requested a copy of my receipt. As I reviewed it before departing, I noted that I was charged $128 a day for parking! It was supposed to be $32 a day! They said I must drive a large truck. No, I have an SUV. Supposedly, it has been corrected but I am still concerned it might not be resolved. This hotel was obviously short staffed. The staff that was there was doing the best that they cared to do. I also highly suggest that Aloft/Marriott, supply them with a uniform. At this point, a hoodie with the logo on it would be an improvement. The staff need to be more professional and dress accordingly. For such a busy event as Americasmart, The Aloft was struggling and they seemed unprepared for their guests. It's a shame too because they are in a prime location and their beds are very comfortable. I have booked another hotel for July 2023. I hope they can turn this around and I can stay again in the future. …
My wife and I visited for her birthday and first trip to Atlanta. Decided to stay in the city so we could walk to the World of Coke, Georgia Aquarium, and other area attractions. As expected, being able to park the car and move about the city was a big perk. The lobby and bar area were well-maintained and the place had a nice vibe. Every member of the front staff was so nice, helpful, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Slam dunk on customer service, with a special shoutout to Nahvah! She was a great brand ambassador! This isn't a brand new hotel but we found our room to be well-maintained and everything was in working order.
First off, this is not a daughter father friendly room. there was a window in the shower, which led to the main room; making it hard to shower normally. Another disappointing flaw is The bathroom sliding door that wouldn’t close, and we figured out that wedging a towel would temporarily close it. but we shouldn’t have had to. The toilet paper holder was broken, when we got in there- there was no soap. Lastly, our sleep was interrupted at 2am because the emergency evacuation alarm went off, and when we had to go down 9 floors of stairways, they laughed and said oh false alarm. Don’t even get me started on the stupid evaluators that half worked. UGH. I do not recommend this hotel stay.
First and foremost, I must say that the staff is absolutely kind and excellent. The front desk and bar staff ensured we were met with kindness! However, the room did not meet expectations. Things were dirty, cracked, unfinished. The room is also incredibly dim. Furthermore, there was banging going on that drove me insane! I do appreciate that there was parking on the premises.
Aloft Pros nice new room Good soap and shampoo products Great central location Plenty of parking Good lobby for working/relaxing Good blackout shades Pool table is fun in lobby Gym - OK Cons Painful slow checkin caused by slow tedious computer system and potential lack of training. On check in Reception does not tell you you have to ask for daily housekeeping- be sure to tell them or you will need coffee, tea, bottled water, clean towels etc or you will be left without. Rooms have very poor lighting - quite dark with all lights on - dim over bed lights and desk light only. Coffee machine and in room coffee is horrible for this level of hotel.
We booked 2 nights to attend a concert at the Mercedes Benz Stadium. As longtime Marriott members, we’re pretty familiar with the brands, and we wanted proximity to the venue as our cocker spaniel was along for the ride. It’s a good thing the show was great, because our stay at this Aloft was not. Arrived in the evening and unloaded the car, and first impression of the room was overwhelmingly negative due to a smell. It permeated the space and could only be described as pungent, like ammonia. The refillable soap bottle in the shower was empty. Front desk gave us a bottle when we requested one. Went out at 5am to walk the dog and found our car with rear door window smashed. The driver window was also cracked. About a dozen other cars were hit as well. Staff at the hotel did help clean glass from the car interior, and they said we’d be refunded the parking fee ($32). As we had to spend all day waiting at the hotel for a glass service, we tried to order a late breakfast sandwich in their small market. A sour faced employee seemed bothered by our presence, and they were out of our requests. What we ended up with was barely edible, American cheese melted onto a greasy sausage biscuit. We were able to get the back window replaced but didn’t want to chance another incident, especially with another window still cracked, so we left at midnight after the show for an 8 hour drive home. Hotel agreed to prorate our stay for the second night. Smash and grabs are not the fault of hotels, of course, but know before you go that this one leaves you very vulnerable. And housekeeping needs to address the odor problem. Apathetic service leaves a sad impression, so I hope this Aloft revisits its employee culture as well.…
Hakeem is the man. He set me up with so many women I forgot what it felt like to be a man. He is truly a mixing master. He made the greatest drinks I have ever had in my life. This guy is literally insane at drunk mixing
I would give this place NO STARS if I could!!! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HOOOOOORRIIIIIIBLE!!!! Our room wasn’t cleaned AT ALL during our four night stay. We didn’t get clean towels the first day so we called front desk when we returned that evening only to be told that housekeeping was gone for the day, they had no towels at the front desk and we would have to wait until 8am the best morning. We were leaving at 5am for an event so we used our old towels since they also were not removed from the room. The next day we once again didn’t have towels when we returned in the evening so we called the front desk and were told this time that they had “two bath towels but no hand or face towels”. They also required us to come down to get them. We called every single day sometimes twice requesting cleaning but it never happened. We even saw the housekeepers in the hallway and asked why our room wasn’t cleaned ONE HOUR after calling to remind the front desk to have it cleaned. They told us our room wasn’t on their list to be cleaned but we had just called!!! And had called the night before as well. Did I mention almost EVERY person I spoke to at front desk and housekeeping looked under the age of 18? Yep. There was only one tiny trash can that never got taken out. No new sheets or beds made. The bathroom door is a sliding door that doesn’t close because it’s too narrow for the doorway. The bed overhead light doesn’t work. Very dim lighting in the room due to no overhead lighting. White fingerprints on the inside of the bathroom door. Television display said “no signal” so we called the front desk to be told “channels begin at channel 11”. There was no literature in the room to tell us this. Then on day three channels 3 and up worked just fine. We were traveling with friends so we had three rooms in a block. So why did only our room have a microwave and no one else’s? Black paint speckled on orange wall probably from the floor treatment. Door to the room wouldn’t close unless pushed shut and pushed HARD. The iron even on the lowest setting burnt a whole in my friend’s shirt. No dresser in the room. There were sticky spots on the carpet!!!! Weird retro vibe. Creepy elevator. The ONLY reason we stayed here is because it was near our conference venue and the other nearby hotels were booked. I’m sure I’m missing something but you get the point which is DON’T STAY HERE!!!…
I stayed here for tech show downtown. Very clean, friendly staff, nice rooms, comfortable bed and a great bar. It is within walking distance to Olympic Park, the congress center and Mercedes Benz stadium. I will stay here again.
We booked this hotel for a Saturday night after an event in Downtown Atlanta. Even though we prepaid for the hotel room, we were informed upon check in that the hotel was sold out and we were being moved to another hotel 12 minutes away. No other explanation was given.
