Detailed Reviews
Book your stay with confidence. Really good rooms. If you need to stopover in Plasencia this is your place. Incidently Plasencia is a lovely little city. We break our drive here because it is half way between Our home in Portugal and the ferry in Santander.

I stayed here in 1977 and again in May 2013 and was surprised at how little has changed. It has been enlarged, but the welcome and atmosphere are still the same.
The hotel sits on a hill above the town and is only a short walk down to the centre of town but a steep walk back up. The location is perfect for a stopover near to the motorway.
The rooms are quite small and the bathrooms a squeeze but they are perfectly comfortable.
We grazed on tapas rather than having a main meal and they were really superb. Finally, our bills in the morning were very modest and left me feeling that I won't leave it so long before I return.

The Hostal Real (at Plasencia, Extremadura Region, Spain), being 2 star rated lodging, first made me hesitate (normally, Spanish 2 star hostals, aren't all good), but this one made me curious enough to check the rooms.
The building was modern enough, totally independent from other buildings (some hostals are part of the building quarters), attractive to sight.
Despite of its not-so-attractive Entrance and Front Desk, our double room was nice and cozy. King size bed, LCD TV on the wall in front of the bed, a helpful living room with a sofa, a table, wardrobe and another tv. The bathroom was modern, spacious, very clean, nice extras, excelent pressure and handy shower. Towels were clean and regular.
As for location, it's a little far from the walled city centre, if you want to go walking, but if you're driving (normally, Plasencia it's a passage city while traveling), it's good enough - quiet and calm area, cheaper than others in city centre, but in a 5 minutes drive.
I paid 54€, breakfast excluded (available at the hostal's cafeteria - 3,50€ each), at the spot. Real value for money. Staff are nice and friendly.

Clean, efficient hotel. Comfortable beds, lots of hot water, pleasant staff. Simple, standard breakfast; good coffee. Inexpensive & convenient. Parking a bit of a challenge! Narrow bays & once we got the car in we couldn’t open the doors!

This is a modest little hotel where they pretty much get it all right. It isn't the last word in luxury but it has everything you need at a price you will be happy to pay. Parked right outside, walked into the interesting old town, ate, slept, showered and left! Todios bien!

A very clean, very nicely appointed, comfy room. Excellent.
Walls must be thin. Could hear lots of noise from adjoining rooms as people got up and about in the early morning.
The location is so-so, on the outskirts of the small town with about a 15-minute walk down to the center (and a somewhat steep walk back up).
Food seemed somewhat on the expensive side. Ate elsewhere.

Very nice, friendly, clean and tidy. At no extra cost we were provided with a sitting room. As is fairly normal the restaurant didn’t open till 9pm but plenty of cold Tapas were available for weary travellers. Very reasonably priced. Didn’t see much of Plasencia but it was only intended as a pit stop en route to the south.

Brief stay as we were very tired the night before and slept until checkout - the room was perfectly clean, as was the bathroom and a nice large shower - a nice box of shower gels and supplements in the bathroom, including earplugs: these were in fact very useful as the walls were unfortunately particularly thin: I was briefly awoken around 5am by the quiet chatter of the couple in the room next to us - this would not have been a problem if the walls had been built thicker. Quite unfortunate but the only complaint. We fell asleep to the soothing rhythm of A Bug’s Life on TV - a fantastically relaxed way to end our long day’s journey.
A respectable price for a respectable room. Would recommend - only a 10 minute walk to the town center.

Booked this hotel in a bit of a rush so wasn't sure what to expect. Turns out it's great.
Not the Ritz but fab for the money.
Guy on the desk was really nice. There is secure parking with CCTV, a bar and restaurant

As my previous report said have been here a few times over the years. Clean, friendly and convenient. Habitacion Euro 50 per night. includes continential breakfast.
Beds comfortable. free parking.
They seem to have upped there game since our last visit, did not eat here but the restaurant at the back looked very popular.
Bar was friendly with free tapas at lunch time, the paella was excellant.
Macadona over the road and petrol station next door.
Plasencia is a nice town, well worth a walk through and a beer in the town square, up the road is the Jerte Valley full of cherry trees, visit in the spring when the blossom is out
