As a destination with many historic features in the public spaces and the Pump room where we stayed for 3 nights in May 2017, the Shaven Crown met our expectations. However, the poor maintenance of the en-suite shower ceiling and grouting, the inadequate hinge on the bathroom door, and the stained couch cover and carpet was disappointing. And the single...

This hotel is over 700 years old.. The owners Evelyn and Phil are delightfull people to have a chat with. The rooms have been renovated to a nice standard, comfortable yet still keep the original charm. Plenty of parking space.Nice bar with good local beer..Definetly will return.

This is an excellent hotel which is dog friendly. Dogs allowed in bedrooms as well as the bar. Rooms are very comfortable with all essentials needed for a comfortable stay. It's a family run hotel and everyone, but especially the dogs, are made very welcome. The food in the restaurant is excellent and would hold its own against more upmarket...

We spent two nights at this lovely hotel (to us a Jewel in the Crown). Evelyn and Phil were brilliant hosts. Food and the room were excellent. We would highly recommend this historic place and hope to return in the near future.

My sister and dog Sooty just spent a wonderful 3 night stay in this hotel steeped in history. The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming especially Evelyn whose customer service is 2nd to none. The food both breakfasts and dinner were quality and beautifully presented. Would highly recommend, both humans and especially Sooty could not fault the place and would...

Hostess was extremely jovial , helped me out with flowers & bubbly for my wife`s birthday. Extremely nice meal in comfortable surroundings. Loved the location & the owners are working hard to restore it to glory ! A little disappointed with breakfast (compared to the highly recommmended rest of stay); couldnt find a salt cellar with any salt in it,...

The staff couldn't have been anymore accommodating and attentive. If anyone is staying in, looking to stay or casually passing by, I couldn't recommend this place any higher than I do now Little gem in the countryside

Stayed here for a night on the drive up to Harrogate, this would have to be situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. The Shaven Crown is beautifully presented, the rooms are well appointed, exceptionally clean and retain an authenticity. The bar and dining room is very cosy and the meals we had served for dinner...

Six of us met up at The Shaven Crown last night. None of us had been there for a long time. We had read a really good write up in the local Oxford Times so decided to try it.
