Friday night meal with friends in December. Lovely menu and great food, with the ability to accommodate a friend with a food allergy with a smile on their faces. Buzzing atmosphere and helpful staff - we left happy to go back and do the same again.
We had a wonderful stay, our room was spotless, comfortable with a lovely view of the bridge. The staff are so friendly, restaurant superb, great bar!!! Lovely place for a weekend, great walks in lovely Comrie.
Visiting friends locally but not wanting to impose for to long booked an overnight stay at the Royal. Not much parking as an old building in the centre of town but found a space and could have used the car park just around the corner if not. Very friendly welcome and shown to our room which given the winding route through the old building was a nice touch. Well decorated hotel in the "hunting/fishing" style and a comfortable room with a high generous bed and furniture in keeping with the age of the building. A clean en-suite with bath which showed a bit of wear but nothing major and taking into account that this was an end of season trip quite acceptable. Lots of lovely hot water and local soaps. Our friends had booked a table for dinner so we had a pleasant pre dinner drink in a lovely library/lounge. Warm and inviting with a selection of daily newspapers. Slight confusion thereafter as there is an internal restaurant and a separate bar/restaurant at the back of the hotel. The later quite lively with good selection on the menu but mixed reviews from our party, the burgers being very poor but the ravioli and chicken both proclaimed as excellent. Good choice for vegetarian customers which was also nice to see. Had a great nights sleep as the room was a comfortable temperature and both dark and quiet with masses of pillows to snuggle into. Breakfast served by the friendly and helpful Sarah the next day was a good selection including the full Scottish (haggis and black pudding) and porridge which you would expect to see given the location but also some delicious pastries or more healthy options. Good cup of filter coffee and orange juice. Sarah was more than happy to accommodate substitutions and extra helpings. So to sum up - a bit pricy for a night but spoil yourself its worth it! …
The most wonderful hotel, great staff, amazing restaurant.... can not say enough about this amazing little place. 😍 rooms are so comfortable, great views of Comries main street.... great walks all around. A must try!
2nd visit recently with walking club, lovely beer garden and comfortable bar area, however as we stood at bar with queue forming, tall blonde guy asked if we had been served ?....eh ? There's about 8 in queue !.....one coffee and one large wine £12.20 !! Sorry that's just a rip off and relying on tourists paying.....such pleasant place and we only stayed as the Comrie Hotel is closed for bar refurb !! ...didn't take cash and poor explanation, basically too lazy to create a bar float. Hopefully I'm not back anytime soon.
We went for a meal as our hosts in Scotland had stayed recently and recommended The Royal. The surroundings are just delightful, the hotel is snug, very warm and inviting. The lady at reception who also served us for dinner was friendly as was the barmaid. The food was superb, absolutely superb! I had the beef cheeks that melted in the mouth, my wife had the ravioli and she said it was the best she's ever eaten, our hosts had fish and chips (Coalie, Coalfish) and again very good with enormous serves of fish. We sat in the bar for awhile and just had a great craic. The rooms are on another level, dear but very very good.
All staff make you feel so welcome. Have stayed at this hotel many times, rooms are very well appointed with good furniture, beds are very comfortable with good quality bedding. Breakfast has a good choice with tasty locally sourced produce. We have enjoyed our evening meal in the bar where we enjoyed sharing platters and a great choice of drinks.
large group of Dads with kids and dogs turned up unannounced and was made to feel very welcome. No issue with the size of group or dogs. Sat out in garden area. There was 17 kids and 8 dads and we all ordered food. Food was excellent. great portions and all came quickly for the size of the group we had. We didnt expect to be served and dealt with due to size but all the staff were amazing. great value for money
We spent two nights (Hogmanay and 1st January) here for DB&B with a couple of friends. The gala dinner on Hogmanay really was perfect; superb food, served by very attentive staff at the appropriate leisurely pace, and punctuated by a superb firework display set off at the Melville monument. This dinner was very well supported by the local community and seemed to be fully subscribed. The spontaneous outdoor flambeaux put on by three locals at midnight really was the icing on the cake. We had dinner on the 1st in the Melville bar, and had an enjoyable evening there. Our bedroom (number 9) is very comfortable and has a nice sitting space, including a sofa, large enough for four people to meet for pre-dinner drinks. Our stay was not cheap, but overall it was good value for money. Comrie is also a super place to use as a base for hill walking. Over the three days we were there we managed about 18 miles.…
We had an excellent 4 night stay in this very dog friendly hotel. The room was of a good standard, the food excellent (especially the breakfast) & the staff very friendly & attentive. We will definitely stay here again next time my husband wants to go deer stalking.
